Colorado 2012 ballot measures (politics)
The following journal is my political opinion on certain issues on and purposed for the ballot in November. If you don't like political opinion and disscussion then I suggest you go back to the porn you most likely were fapping to. If you like political dialogue and you understand that politics has a direct impact on your life and you actually give a shit then please, read on and discuss.
............ Also, there is strong disapproval towards right wing christians here because they hate equality and are batshit crazy. Enjoy.
CICA Marijuana Legalization Marijuana Legalize recreational use of marijuana with regulations.
I am in support of this mesure. It adds funding to the state budget and it ensures that regulations will be in place. What does law enforcement think about this?
“During my 36 years as a Denver cop I arrested more people for marijuana than I care to remember, but it didn’t amount to one bit of good for our citizens,” said Tony Ryan, a former officer with the Denver Police Department and a board member for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. “Keeping marijuana illegal doesn’t do anything to reduce marijuana use, but it does benefit the gangs and cartels who control the currently illegal marijuana trade.”²
According to my friend that sells firearms, police come in all the time and say they would rather make marijuana legal and alcohol illegal. After all, no one has ever smoked a bowl then beat their spouse or others.
CICA
Prohibition Ban Initiative
Marijuana
Legalize recreational use of marijuana with no regulations.
I am strongly against this mesure. No regulation is just asinine. Without regulation how can you maintain quality control or public safety?
CICA
"Religious Freedom" Amendment
Religion
Would mandate that government not burden person or group's religion.
*eyeroll* It is called the First Amendment of the US Constitution which trumps state law. The idiotic group known as "Focus on the Family" which is a super right wing hate group wants this on the ballot instead of important shit because they might seriously think that they are being persecuted.³ Little do they know that it is just reality slapping them in their delusional faces. Focus on your own damn Family.
CICA
Personhood Amendment
Abortion
Define the term "person" in the state constitution as the start of biological development.
Against it. There are so many problems with a law with language like this that people will suffer needlessly. Guess who is hugely in support of this one. (hint: delusional fucktards mentioned above)³
CICA
Water Law Amendment
Environment
Would alter state water laws.
Unsure, I will have to look into this some more.
CICA
Religious Freedom Amendment
Religion
Would ban the state from interfering with freedom of religion.
Against. Once again, fucktard supported.³
CICA
Property Tax Amendment
Taxes
Would eliminate property taxes in the state.
I am against it.³
CICA
Handgun Amendment
Firearms
Would allow concealed carry of handguns without permit.
I am a lifetime member of the NRA. I can confidently say that this proposal is just..... foolish, brainless, mindless, senseless, idiotic, imbecilic, ridiculous, ludicrous, absurd, nonsensical, fatuous, silly, inane, witless, empty-headed; halfwitted, dimwitted, dumb, moronic, asinine, and ludicrous.³ Why the hell would you let just anyone carry concealed? In case you haven't caught on, AGAINST.
CICA
State Primary Election Amendment
Elections
Would restructure state primary elections.
Unsure.
CICA
Redistricting Amendment
Redistricting
Would tweak state senatorial districts by county boundaries
Against, besides, the Supreme Court has said such a thing is illegal.³
CICA
Business Tax Amendment
Taxes
Would eliminate the business personal-property tax.
I am against this.
CICA
Judicial Reform Amendment
Judicial reform
Would change how Colorado's judges are appointed and how long they could serve
I don't know. :\
CICA
Court Term Limit Measure
Judicial reform
Would limit the seven Supreme Court judges to two-year terms
I don't know. :\
CICA
"Right-to-Foreclosure" Amendment
Admin. of gov't.
Require lenders to prove their right to foreclose on property.
This sounds good, it seems like this gives more rights to the borrower. Unsure.
CICA Same-Sex Marriage Amendment Marriage Would allow for same-sex marriage in the state.
There are arguments against this one that seems to make sense. It is a legislative issue. It needs to be made into a law and upheld in the courts. But of course, fucktards and several of their fellow tools were against it too.⁴

Dear lord baby jesus, nine pounds, eight ounces. Don't know a thing in the world but still omnipotent. Please bring upon this world the zombie apocalypse so that I may finally shoot others in the face. Amen.
Because people should to be able to purchase things to protect themselves if they want to? Because not everybody who is in danger has time to wait for a permit, and go through the training necessary to qualify for a permit? Because you don't actually have to know how to shoot a weapon to scare off someone trying to harm you (Guns that are drawn aren't fired 99% of the time?) I'd rather have a few bad apples have the ability to carry a concealed weapons than bar several people from being able to defend themselves
I also don't think people who would do criminal things with a concealed weapon will care if it's illegal to carry a weapon without a -permit-.
North Carolina's legislature passed a law against considering climate change in city planning (e.g. when planning developments near the coastline.) As Lee Camp said "Making a certain area of science illegal doesn't actually change the effect of that science."
Also, if lawmakers in states like Michigan don't want to hear the word vagina, they shouldn't be allowed to make laws regarding them.
Legal pot for recreational use? I'm for it as long as it is, as you said, regulated. Quality control standards kept up, taxed like tobacco products, growers turned into legitimate operations(though that's already been going on now that the medical use law went through), age restriction of 21 or older, maybe? I've never smoked it nor ever intend to(even if it is completely legalized) but it would be a decent benefit to the economy as well as providing the state with much-needed tax funds.
CCW without permits is, well, kinda dangerous, but conversely if someone wants to carry badly enough the law won't stop them. I don't, however, support it based on that measure. I actually support a stricter training process on top of the existing permit process. It's a bit silly that you can attend a $50-100 class and listen to a lecture and that qualifies you for a permit. I believe demonstrating safe firearm handling as well as some sort of marksmanship test. In response to BrutalYena's comment, while most instances where someone uses a firearm in self-defense doesn't result in someone being shot, that doesn't mean you can rely on the weapon as a magical talisman that'll scare off any attacker. You -must- be prepared, willing, and able to use the weapon in its intended manner if you are going to carry it. That includes being proficient in its use to at least some degree. Even at close range in a frantic self-defense situation it is -very- easy to miss an attacker if you have little to no shooting experience, and you are accountable for -every- round you fire. If a stray round hits someone else, you are at fault. I don't mean to be gruff about this, but while I believe carrying a firearm is a fundamental right it is also a massive responsibility not everyone is mentally capable of undertaking.
Freedom of religion? I'm with you on this. Already granted with 1A. While I do at times consider myself a Christian at times(I'm leaning more towards the agnostic side of the fence at this period of time), this persecution complex at people simply exercising their rights to live differently and decrying the 'death of family values' and other crap like that is just crap. First off, people such as James Dobson and his ilk aren't true Christians. They simply are incredibly entitled, power-hungry elitists who portend that anyone else who isn't in their club of upper-middle-class, Briargate-living, holier-than-thou snobs isn't worth worshiping the ground they walk on. They want money, power, and control over peoples' lives all in the name of a deity they pay lip service(at best) to. This is based on personal experience dealing with Focus on the Family as a whole. They will back down if someone calls them out to their face... I gotta admit my mom chewing out James Dobson's personal secretary(long story there) was epic, but I digress.
I agree with you on property taxes. Eliminating them would be completely idiotic as that money pays for much of our basic services. Same with business property taxes. As much as people might bitch about paying taxes, it is necessary.
Term limits on judges? I'm undecided on this as well.
Right to foreclosure? I'm definitely for. The fact is that some of these big banks(specifically Bank of America) steamroll over everyone they can and at least in BoA's case blatantly ignores legal action against them. Stories such as these abound: http://jalopnik.com/5920334/bank-of.....-disappearance http://abcnews.go.com/Business/bank.....ry?id=13775638
Especially in the second case, BoA foreclosed on a home that was already bought and paid for; a property they had no rights to whatsoever. The missing classic car in the first story is also disturbing as it was practically stolen. In both cases BoA has stonewalled the legal process by outright ignoring subpoenas and court orders... I mean, it took the bank getting foreclosed on in order for them to fork over $2500? Completely asinine.
