Weasyl (A furry art site)
So Weasyl is a pretty awesome looking new and coming art site
and I'm pretty sure everyone should give it a shot
check out it's development tumblr here: http://weasyl.tumblr.com
it's got tons of legit features and I'm definitely gonna give it a shot.
The best thing for any new art site is a strong community, so I think all you should go to weasyl when it launches as well and atleast give it a shot! if you like what you see, tell your friends, and tell them to tell their friends, and so on!
If you would like to help support the site you can help fund the project at their indiegogo page!

FA+

bass
Generic I men by deviant art and....others. Lol
Or keep us updated!
I'm fine with that!
Sell me. Why is it special, new, better, not-sucky, etc?
FA:
Searching is painful. Administration/Moderation is controversial. "Feature-Lacking" is being kind. Keywords system sucks huge granite rocks sideways through a wet paper straw. Artists tag with a "sentence" so you end up with stupid stuff like "I" and "the" in the keyword system.
SF:
Used to be Yiffstar/Anthrostar and focused on stories. Now the site spends a lot of time with "temporary" failures and messing things up. Has good features, but it's a craps shoot on whether they are working at any given time. What works one day may be horribly and permanently broken the next. Keywords/Tags work decently and are limited to existing ones that make sense.
IB:
Some decent features and generally works. Weird policies. If your story or art has a human that encounters and has adult relations with a dragoness, OMG you are a sick bastard and that is not permitted here. Controversy over Adult-rated babyfur art and numerous complaints that the people who make adult-rated babyfur art are consistently intentionally mistagging and changing tags to evade blocks put by people who don't want to see that stuff.
just give them a listen and see if you agree with what they have to say
I'm going into it thinking possitively judging by everything that's been shown so far.
I have a different project :p
I'll sign up for the site...maybe donate five bucks for the beta
A: Submissions of all content ratings will be allowed (excluding photography, due to legal reasons). Users will also be able to rate journals adult if they contain content not suitable for minors. Here at Weasyl, we believe that adult-oriented artwork is art just the same, and don’t want users to feel restricted, just because what they want to share is sexual in nature.
Nuff said. :3
So the issue sort of becomes, why bother moving? I know some people complain about features or staff here, but for my purposes it certainly works just fine. Why abandon something I'm this embedded in for a new website that may or may not be better at some point? I don't care about features or web design for the most part. Those things are nice, but I'm here for the art. I want to watch the artists I like, and enjoy their work. Perhaps to a lesser degree socialization is also nice. I have all of those capabilities here. I'm not some kind of FA super-loyalist. I'm simply established here. It becomes a matter of just having to check another website all the time. I have to stay here to keep an eye on those that don't move to the new place. And then for those that do move, do I have to endure repostings of their entire gallery?
It just doesn't seem necessary to me, and neither did InkBunny. I do have an account there, but I only go to the site whenever someone gives a direct link to a piece of art they posted there instead of here. I guess at some point something similar will happen and I'll make an account at this new site but I won't be very active there unless there's really a mass exodus from FA.
I'm not against change either. I just feel that the existing format should be worked with and improved upon as much as possible. There is no need to start completely anew, creating redundancies, when what we have here is perfectly reasonable material. People are free to do what the like I suppose. I just can't see anyone making a website like this that would revolutionize everything and truly be valued for that. Also. . .
HEY IF WE'RE GONNA KEEP MAKING NEW SITES TO LOOK AT PRETTY PICTURES ON CAN SOMEONE PLEASE NAME ONE AFTER A FELINE?
however I'm posting from an artists point of view, and while I am firmly rooted here with a large community, the promise of features that artists have been desiring and many other convenient features and a much more organized and appealing UI, it's just better and a place I'd rather showcase my work. If FA could manage to pull a full redesign of their site (which they never will because laziness/unwillingness to change the site's code because it'd be too much work for them because the way they have the site coded and with everythig the site has now they don't want to put forth the work to do any mass changes) Then I'd say FA is the pure absolute bomb.
Also, I'm not saying I'd be LEAVING FA, that'd be silly because I am so firmly rooted. I may post less here, or I may not, I don't know yet, but at the launch of the new site I'd definitely still post here (also I wouldn't repost my entire gallery but only some of my best works and the new works there forward. I'd only STOP working with FA if there was a mass exodus as you put it. If a majority of the community were on Weasyl then I'd likely stop posting to FA, but only if there was a full majority.
The idea isn't "Leave everything you're familiar with for this new shiny site" it's "don't stick with mediocrity just because it's what you're all used to" There's no reason to stay here if there is in fact a legitimately better alternative at no cost to the user.
Now there's also the chance that Weasyl isn't the bread and butter I'm making it out to be. I understand that and we may all (in one or two years time) forget about weasyl and continue to putter about on FA. I understand the possibility, but I'm a man of potential and possibilities, and I look forward to Weasyl's potential :3
I feel like if we want change, we have to ask for change, we all have to push for it. There won't be any if everyone just resigns themselves to the idea that it can't happen. There would be a point where regardless of what the staff wanted to do, things would need to be updated, and if they didn't want to or couldn't do the coding themselves, they could certainly find someone who would.
that's why I'm going somewhere that will have the stuff I want
without abandoning FA
to put it simply.
I believe the possibility still exists. It's probably that there are just too many people here who don't care, so the higher-ups can kinda get away with not doing anything. The more I talk about it, the more it seems like most governments x3
