I am not a creative man.

I spent a good 6 hours with
doniago yesterday looking over fursuiters and sketching ideas, hoping to finalize something and place an order by the end of this week. If anything, I now have more ideas and even more builders to look at. I just stumbled on Beastcub (http://www.beastcub.com/) and he seems to make some very high quality stuff at a mid-range price.
The only idea I have in my head is a Bernese Mountain Dog fursuit, but I'm not convinced it would translate well as a suit (though the dogs themselves are friggin' adorable). Otherwise I'd probably go with a standard husky or big cat.
An artistic freedom project is looking more and more likely at this point, as I can't seem to come up with anything unique myself.

FA+

Just find a builder that can do canines better than the other designs, and you'll be golden. :)
Thanks for the input, though! Really, any bit of info is of great help!
But yeah, the latest BMD I saw was made by Firestorm Six and that turned out awesome. Beastcub can definitely do a plethora of animals, and doing a dog would be probably a cake walk for her. Artistic freedoms, I'd imagine, she might glomp at, as well. :P
A few builders I contacted seem SUPER-excited about an artistic freedom project, most notably Made Fur You and By Cats 4 Cats (who want to do a canine and show that they're not just about felines anymore).
..Err, or pricing, too. :D
Pull that trigger, laddy!
Not unless you can fit it into your budget... depends on the individual makers' down payments, of course.
Then, psh.. fiscal responsibility. Hahaha
Then how about this! Pan out to set aside money for your down payment, and continue doing that through until you have enough to give to them! Financial plan: game, set, -match.-
