I live by the bay. You tack on 12 degrees automatically for heat index. :( I have lots of fans I use with fursuiting so the rooms are tolerable.

Ouch. I live by the forest, so it can get pretty bad here as well. Friday it's supposed to be in the 100s with a 96% humidity. Needless to say, I'm expecting to hear about alot of people collapsing due to the heat index.

NEws has been warning people of extream heat issues this week and weekend. And I have a major garage clean up planned for this weekend. Fortunately, I'll have big fans and lots of water and we won't work past a specific time... and I'll have lots of help.

That's a good thing as otherwise things would get way too hellish way too fast.

An emergency AC --

Take a large plastic cooler full of ice. Leave the top open and make sure the drain is closed. Take a desk fan and point it so it blows over the cooler. For harder cold, blow straight into it. You will have to reload on ice come morning, but you'll sleep well through the night.

For even stronger cooling, crush the ice and mix salt into it. You'll get an additional 20f drop. But the ice will melt much faster, and exposure to salt spray is bad for almost all metals.

True. I'll keep it in mind... bad part, just got the notice... they will not be able to fix until Friday. :P At least it should be running by Sat for the clean up.
