AC 2012 report

General
I should really post this before any more time passes.
Tuesday I make my way to San Antonio and meet up with
joeartguy and I hang out with him and our friend Amy for a bit. Later in the evening we meet up with
briansutton and talk about future comic projects.
After getting some sleep Joe drives me to the airport early Wednesday morning and I fly off to Pittsburgh. The week before I learned of the bus that could take me from the Pittsburgh airport to downtown for only $3.75; I take it and it leaves me a few blocks from the Marriot next to the Convention Center. Spotting fursuits, ears, and tails in the crowd already.
There’s still some time before the others arrive, so
rabbi-tom lets me stay with him and his friends until the crew I’m staying with arrive. Use the time to do the first drawing in Groat’s WCOTP for the con.
viper45 eventually arrives, soon followed by
dcrabbit,
maxblackrabbit, and
gnaw and we get all our stuff in the room.
gideon and one more person whose name I can't recall stay with us that night since the people either of them are rooming with would not be there until Thursday.
Thursday arrives and I get my badge that afternoon. See a few more people I only see at cons like
ews and
shoulung. Join the group in their downtown walk and visit the nearby comic store and a toy store that will be making an appearance in the next Batman film.
Friday rolls around and I take my spot in the Artist Alley. See a few more people I don’t get a chance to see as much as I’d like to like
lapinbeau and
mortiskull. Did well and had planned to do some more art at the Zoo, but I had no energy afterwards and went to sleep early.
I do pretty good in the Artist Alley on Saturday as well. Too tired to do much again that night.
Sunday I have no Artist Alley table, so I take the opportunity to walk the Dealers Room and meet up with anyone I hadn’t had a chance to see yet. Passed a bit of artwork to
kv1nn4; said hi to
kensingshow and
ebonyleopard and others; got
miupix to sign my Morning Glory poster (finally remembered to bring it with me this time! (need to ask him about Full Knight Gear next time, though)), and enjoyed looking at what people in the hall had to sell.
At about 1pm I went to the Artist Alley to see if there were any tables available. Luckily for me there was; even luckier was the fact I got to sit next to gNAW and Max Blackrabbit which meant there’d be some good traffic in that area.
While I was setting up, Bondage Bob decided to throw his hissy fit over Max being unable to get to his commission at the con (Max did give him the option of taking his book to work on the commission at home or a refund, but I guess the baby tiger wanted his bondage art now). He gets his money back and just stands like a petulant toddler in front of my table and grumbles to himself, tearing some of the paper and plastic coverings on the table and thumping it with his fist every now and then. Takes a few minutes to convince Bob to leave.
Despite only having three hours at the table (didn’t know the hall would be closing at 4pm) I still did as good as I did on Friday and Saturday. I seem to do really well selling my finished art from my portfolios on Sundays at a con; I should really refill them before FC.
Finally had energy to stay up that night, so I walked around the Zoo and did a few trades. Hopefully I can stay up on Friday and Saturday next year to get more artwork done during the con.
Monday eventually shows up and ends everyone’s party. I get on my bus later that day and arrive back home on Wednesday afternoon (would’ve been Wednesday morning, but the bus was late getting to Dallas).
Had a lot of fun and did well and I hope to be in Pittsburgh again next year.
