Modding Old DMG Gameboys
So, lately I've been really getting into chiptune and keygen music and have been wanting to get LSDJ (a program that uses the original Gameboy's 8bit sound capabilities to make very interesting music) and a DMG Gameboy and mod it out.
Main problem? I dunno how to run wires and stuff like that -_-
But, I'm thinking about getting a couple old gameboys, an LED backlighting kit, a pro sound mod kit, and possibly a clocking device mod, depending on how inspired I get on building. Also probably need to invest in some general electronics tools and a soldering iron.
Anyone else have any experience modding old electronics, especially gameboys, NES's, SNES's, Altaris and that like? Experience with chips and soldering? Tips for general safety of device?
I'm not horribly worried about destroying an old DMG, as I have found a bunch online for about $10-$20. If the modding looks too difficult, however, I'll just save the risk and money loss and buy a modded one for $100, as all the tools and mods will add up to about that anyways.

Tips: Use one of those things to hold the wires for you while you solder. It is a life saver.
