Hello everyone, it's 
, here with a small little update to help the group become more sociable and active.
I would like to give this journal over to you sharks. We all know you're a shark, and that's pretty snazzy, but who are you? Get to know your fellow sharks here and leave a small introduction for yourself! Talk with your fellow sharks here!
I'll also create a link for all newcoming sharks to introduce themselves here in the journal footer.
Remember, you bigger sharks keep your teeth off the smaller sharks. We don't need any casualties on our fins. They are not appetizers, so don't eat 'em. Eat the seafood platter we've laid out for you.

On another "finny" note: I spent ages working out hand and foot "fin" designs...
For the hands: a thumb with fingers combined into two "flippers" (more or less small and ring finger to one, middle and index to the other), giving them a more "flipper/fin" ish look.
For the feet: 3 toed, webbed, and a bit longer, sort of diver flipper-like.

She is a Blacktip Reef shark. Her real name is Hiwahiwa Manō. Born in the shallow tropics. Given the nickname Mittens because of her black tipped hands, giving her hands the appearance of wearing mittens. I so clever, hurrhurr.
She is a girl. But kinda dresses like a boy. In a sense that she doesn't wear feminine things, but rather more comfortable things.
Has an unusually long tailfin. Tends to curl it around her when bored.
She's very shy around strangers. Say one word to her, and if she doesn't know you/remember meeting you, she runs to the nearest person she is comfortable with and hides, considering them her 'reef', a safe spot for her. But around people she does know, she's a wee bit silly. Though she can have a temper.
Loves to meet other Black Tip Reefers, generally smaller sharks or the more placid ones. Is nervous around larger sharks, dolphins, and orcas. Also loves Dr. Pepper, heavy metal, and video games, specifically zombie games.

He's a 20 year old male great white shark. He's not too tall, but he's very muscular. He has a "punk" behavior - he's not afraid of doing anything in public, specially because he loves being the center of the attention. But if you learn how to deal with his naughty behavior, he's a very nice guy in overall. Even though he's a fierce predator, he only eats small fishes and regular food. During his spare time, he likes to surf and to play as solo guitarrist in punk bands.

Sharks are my favorite animals, though. I just don't feel like one because... I can't swim T_T But I really love them, and I want to become an elasmobranchologist and conservationist IRL because of them.
I also really love dem teeth. And my character is going through a quick re-design so I do have a shark tail with finnies >w< I'm part oceanic white tip, so I'm... an opportunistic badass?

I'm actually taking pre-vet classes, but I plan on going into research for sharks, and have applied for an opportunity to intern with the South African Shark Conservancy for 3 months to study wild sharks. Sharks are wonderful creatures<3

And as far as being a shark... there's so much about it that's just amazing that it's hard to single out one thing. If forced to however, I'd have to go with the image. Sharks are beautiful and graceful if not mysterious. Yet, despite how they look, deep down you know they could rip you to shreds.

My dermal-denticle-sona is an oceanic white tip who goes by the insufferably hard to pronounce name Itsasne. She works at the docks as a customs agent taking inventory of all the sundries merchants bring to shore. She's obsessed with magical artifacts, so she's always on the lookout for cool glowing rings and amulets and stuff amidst the cargo, but more times than not it's just spices and jars with body parts stuffed inside. Ho hum.
She also works part time as a professor at the local university for magical studies, teaching apathetic novice initiates about item enchantment.
If you asked her her age, she'd just make something stupid up like "430 1/2."
Personality wise she's an incredibly awkward individual with poor people skills, though she isn't shy. She's mostly off in her own world, her face buried in a book or ship manifest. She's been known to run into her desk while pacing about her office. Also has a bad habit of chewing on small desktop items, basically destroying them in the process.

I'm a self-proclaimed Guardian of the Oceans. I love all sea life and will protect those in need of protecting ... to the point of getting food on land. I am sworn off all kinds of sea food as I view them as fellow neighbours in my sea. You'd be surprised what you can learn from a lowly crab or salmon. As they get overlooked, they are the best kind of informants. I have a trusty Nunti Bo (Google it; it's a real weapon and I know how to use one irl ) gifted to me by my Master who taught me all I know for protecting those lesser than myself.
I'm friendly to those who are nice to me. I prefer not to bite, but will if me or my friends are threatened. I also prefer to fight my battles with my words, and they rarely let me down.

Species: glowing frill finned shark. Basically instead of the conventional fins mine has spines and webbing between them. I have one continuous fin that runs from my tail, along my back and sparts splits into two on the sides on my head. My fins are bio-luminescence and glow many different colors. Most the time they change from time to time for no reason, but are vivid and bright when showing strong emotion. I also have what is called an esca on top of my head. Which is a glowing dangling thing for attacting prey, but since I live a civilized life I have no use like that for it.
Occupation: I am a card shark. I deal black jack and other games at a casino. On occasion I get to dress in full suit and be a pit boss but I'm best when dealing cards so they keep me there mostly. Gotta say sexy suit on a shark is pretty classy lol

Lightning is a bit of an odd-ball, shy one moment, and explosive and hyper the next! She tends to steer away from most other sharks in general, as she's too shy or too hyper to introduce herself! She also rarely speaks, and mostly replies with subtle grunts, squeaks, or whines when she wants to communicate. When she does talk however, she has quite the mouthful to say! Most of the time, she's seen down at her job on the beach, helping dummies from drowning and making sure no one hits someone over the head with a pool noodle! Originally, Nez was just an ordinary tiger shark, but the more I was affectionately called "Nezzy" over Nez, the more it kind of stuck aaaaand I decided to play around with the whole Loch Ness idea (pun included!). Now he's an ordinary tiger shark with a few screws loose and minor monstrous details, haha!
Nez is 21 years old from time of writing and is a lazy bum known to drag his tail around everywhere.
Usually wears some sort of artificial lung or brace around his neck if he expects to be a fish out of water for a while. Sometimes it's fashioned to look like an ordinary headset to fit some outfits.
Other than that he's just a harmless shorty reigning at 5'10" and weighing in at 125 lbs.

The laboratory was issued to release him early to start testing his potency as a weapon, but in the process of waking him. He went into a frenzy smashed the safety glass, causing some of the scientists to get cut. Smelling blood, he went on a rampage forcing the scientists to put him back into suspended animation. And in his sleep had subconscious nightmares for years of what he had done. And after so long, he was released from stasis... To find the lab he'd been created in empty and abandoned... Now he stays in isolation to keep from hurting others again, creating things to pass the time and experimenting happily... Though the silence and lack of socialization may have taken its toll on his sanity.

So after going through a great deal of pain and suffering I realized my old fursona (dragon) no longer synced with me. So I took a bit of time and did some soul searching to find what did. And well here I am *spins* ta-dah.

My name is Alex, and I'm a shark that lives dead-center in the midwestern united states. I live the life of a hikikomori because I feel like I'm mostly incompatible with many of the people in my immediate area, and other than to forage for food or maybe take a soak in my entirely too-small for me bathtub, I don't often willingly leave the confines of my room.
Not that I'm not entirely outgoing. the internet has introduced me to a world of friends, some who I would say are far closer to me in my heart than any of the individuals who bullied me for my disability in school or pretended to be my friends only to steal from me repeatedly.
That sounding incredibly bitter aside, my favorite food is Gyros, although I do like me some deep-dish pizza (I prefer ginos, but Lou Malnati's and Giordano's are also wonderful!) and I have entirely WAY too much knowledge about retro games knocking around in my skull. I play Magic the Gathering somewhat casually and I do the furry art thing to earn extra cash here and there. I consider myself a progressive and I am still on the journey to figuring my gender identity out, but she/her works for me best, even if I'm not gonna be aggressive about he/him pronouns being used at me.
