Do you plan to be, or wish you could be a profession artist?

I really thought about it, and the way I feel now, I honestly think I don't want to be a professional artist. I want to go to school and all... but only to learn. Art means something to me that is on a completely different level than any form of income. I guess, if someone really wants my work, I could part with it, but even so, most likely as a gift. :
I guess, I believe that for me, making a career would cheapen the meaning I try to place into every bit of my work, or keep me from making much of my work personal. It's almost like removing yourself from your work, removing you mark on the world. If I ever make money on my stuff, it would only ever be on my terms.
As you can surmise, I am not open for commission rather indefinitely, or until my mentality changes.

I was talking more like... working for someone else as a commissioned or hired artist.
Good luck on your projects. :>
I'd really want to be a professional artist (in traditional printing at least), making illustrations or covers for books and children stories.
Then again- I have a different opinion on the whole topic. When someone asks me to draw something (as a part of my homework and exercises, but still) I can..uh, make it my own. And I don't think it cheapens what I'm doing when someone is satisfied with my work. I think this is what being an artist is about...but it can also be my childish dream.
As for commissions- well, I'd like to try doing them (when I have more leisure time). Though there are some stuff that I would never draw..and I don't think that I'm good enough to do commissions yet. So meh..
I think I'm just being a baby about it all. I feel, because I'm not very dedicated to my art currently, I never will be, let alone someone who will be content with doing "work" as a career artist.
I guess art really got underrated nowadays ;_;
