Angry (feet)

The title, if I'm honest, has little relevance as the feet I'm working with seem to me to be quite happy. I just love Tim Minchin.
So, these happy feet then. They're not dancing penguin related either. Instead, I can tell you that I'm in the midst of making my very own foot-paws. Or sock-paws, to be precise. I have no particular need for them, just wanted to try it out as they look fairly fantastic, what with so much manoeuvrability and comfort, plus the simple fact that an Amethystle without feet indoors seems a bit sad for a partial. Mind you, I intend on wearing them about the house as slippers if they're as comfortable as I'm hoping they will be...
I've already made a rather disturbing dummy of my foot out of duct (quack) tape, to which my mother's initial reaction was 'Ah! Creepy foot!' and secondly 'Ah, creepy foot... it just needs to be that bit heavier, then you could paint it... Leave it places, poking out from under peoples' beds-'. Yes. My mother has a wonderful mind. She then proceeded by saying that I could make them from latex, and other limbs, such as toes for doorstops...
Sometimes I worry about her.
Yes, well, I'm currently in the process of carving out some lovely toes. Foam ones, for the sock-paws, not doorstops. I know my glue gun is hiding not far away, but exactly where is a mystery.
Once they're all in place and looking paw-tastic, I'll wrap it in yet more duct (quack) tape and cut out a decent pattern much like I would for any other garment/creation. The only fur I've got to hand at the minute is that wonderful yet rather long pile stuff that Amethystle is constructed from. I will try to shave it down, but at the same time, similarly with the head and gloves I'm wary of taking it down too short as the fluff ain't that great quality and I don't want it looking thin and bald in places.
My one querie, aimed not specifically at anyone in particular but someone who might have an idea, is that if the toes end up sitting quite near to one another, with such long fur how can I ensure it doesn't appear to be one huge monotoe?
That's all for now, as I'm keen to get these finished so I can try them on and wear them 'til they die. Do let me know if you'd like pictures (if they turn out good, at least) and so far I've been taking pictures of the process. If they come out really good, I may consider throwing in my own tutorial amongst the masses on the interwebs. I'll just try to make mine prettier and more interesting.

I would actually love to see your sock-paws when done. I've always wanted a pair, and most fursuit makers tend to believe they are impossible to make.

OP
Awesome, thank you - I'll be sure to put pictures up at some point then. So far it hasn't been that difficult, just fiddly and awkward in places... I've only got the one complete at the moment, the other is waiting for my mood to kick back in and deal with the fact it's going to take some time and concentration. I love how it's turned out though - it's got all the movement and comfort I was hoping for. Definitely worth the effort :D
