Just bought my first pack of jump rings on E-bay for less than three bucks and soon I will see how adept (read: patient and attentive) at making chainmaille I can be. Whoo-hoo, new hobby! :D
I've been watching several of the maille artists here on FA and every piece I saw made me want to learn how to make those pretty, intricate pieces. Not necessarily for profit, but certainly for my own amusement. Amusement being a maille collar for my cat and a maille 'vest' for my sister's mini dachshund. He would look so cute. Oh, and maille pieces for myself. I don't usually wear jewelry, but for maille, I would find reasons to wear it at work even though it would be completely impractical because I'm a baker and metal jewelry heats up damn quick when you're leaning over an oven. I would wear it still, just to be able to say "Oh this? Yeah, I just made it the other day. It's whatever." Which is not at all the way I speak. But whatever :P

I bought a chainmaille kit over at Walmart a while back and it was to make a necklace and a pair of earrin's. It was good practice and somethin' to help get me started.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8338495/ I finished this a few days ago. Granted, the main chain and the pendant were pre-made (Chain I got at Walmart, pendant I got at AC Moore), the rest (such as pullin' up the chain and linkin' it the way it is to get the two loops, and the design in the middle holdin' the pendant (design was taken from the kit that I had gotten.))
I can't wait to get started but I have to wait for my stuff to arrive *impatient*
They were like... 2$ at Walmart for a pack of like.. 200.. Came with small, medium and large (I think 2, 4 and 6 MM rings or they might be 2, 4, 8mm rings. Kinda hard to tell to be honest.)
