Sounds like you have a lot of temporary files that are being held on your SSD.

Also in Photoshop under Edit/Preferences there is a selection of settings that you can tell Photoshop to use. You can allocate more RAM to it and less HD space for scratch functions. That should help you if you have a lot of RAM available for it.

Get rid of some things

Run a disk defragmenter and a disk clean up. They should be found under control panel somewhere. Tell me how much that clears up when those are done.

I'll see how defragmenting goes, for what I learned that's bad to do on a C drive?

It's not. Sometimes when you delete things, they leave fragmented files or files that are no longer needed that are in other files. Defraging gets rid of them.

I didn't know what defragmenting even do, now I finally know, thanks. :)

You can try looking at the disk properties and finding "Disk Cleanup", and it'll give you a list of things created or used by Windows that you can delete to free up space.

Run disk cleanup, and also check for any driver extract folders in the root directory of the SSD. You may also need to adjust the virtual memory of the OS.

XD this isn't really a crummy computer problem for basic users, I have solved my problem so you know. :>

i'll tack on a couple other things for you to do, now this is dependent on whether or not you want these functions or not

how much ram does your computer have?
since it has over 8GB, i would recommend disabling the pagefile, or setting it to another drive, because it's very bad for ssd's!

do you use hibernation mode?
if no, go into an administrative (important) command prompt and type powercfg -h off
pagefile will eat as much space as you have ram, so if you have say 16GB of ram, it will eat 16GB of disk space

as far as the post about defragmenting goes, defrag on an ssd is only bad if it's set up to automatically run too frequently. ssd's have a finite number of write cycles, usually around 100,000 or so, before they wear out. not of course this all depends on the quality of the components, higher quality ones could probably last longer.

other things that can eat into disk space are things like firefox cache, giant im logs, obsolete files (such as outdated program installers, etc...), and a bunch of other things.

i have a 120GB ssd, and i'm not even using 30GB of it.

I didn't know that hibernate would do such a thing, I don't use it but sometimes it puts itself into it, before I disabled that. But I will definitely try that comand, so was it "powercfg -h off"? I tried it in cmd but I guess it's the normal comand prompt ran as administrator? Anyway, I I got 12GB of ram in 2GB sticks.

yes, i'm gonna assume you have windows 7. type cmd into the search box in the start menu, right click, run as administrator.

the file is called hiberfile.sys, in case you're wondering.

So what do I type for windows 7? Plus it's 64
bit if it makes a difference. ^^
