Sewiously, You Guys

What the fuck is up with artists drawing up random character doodles and then selling the 'character' for a few bucks? I get that it's nice to have an outlet to support artists that you like. It's better than just clicking a Paypal or something... But c'mon guys. C'mon.
Half the time, with these character auctions, I'll see the same goddamn character drawn/colored slightly differently, and posted anywhere from three to fifteen - yes, I've seen fifteen! - times on one page. Then people just go "ooh, I like those colors!" or "ooh, I wish I could make such creative characters!" But... like... c'mon.
C'mooon. It's... It's dumb. C'mon guys.
Having your own 'murrpurrsona' is one thing; I get it. It's your avatar. Your extension into the fantasy realm. But when you collect characters at a few bucks a piece (sometimes, $15+?) and just have a profile to show off the money you spent... it's like... fuck.
