Saturday July, 21 @ Hubbard Park in Meriden.
Meetup time will be 11:00 AM and we will commence the hike to Castle Craig @ 11:30 AM sharp (If you are not at the designated meeting spot by the time we start the hike, you will be left behind). The hike up will be approx. 1 hr 15 min at a walking pace. Once up there we will have a rest period to allow for people to take pictures, enjoy the scenery, and eat lunch if you have brought one. After that we will head back down the way we came.
To get to the meetup point, enter through Mirror Lake Drive (1-way street going into the park on the left hand side of the lake). As you drive down you will see a small dirt parking lot up and to the left (right before the road curves right). That is where we will be meeting. If the parking lot is full, there is a larger lot if you follow the road as it curves to the right.
Bring a bagged lunch and a lot of water, and please bring appropriate footwear for the occasion. Hiking in flip-flops is not advised.
As for suiting, I highly suggest NOT bringing suits along (tails/ears/paws are fine). I say this for two reasons. (1) It will be hot as hell out and hiking in suit might not be wise. (2) I have not talked with anyone about mask laws and restrictions in the park, so by wearing a head you will be taking on the risk of having to deal with police if there happens to be a law forbidding it in the park area.
If this goes well I plan on having more hiking meets throughout the state. We shall see.
