This is one of those instances where the definition of a word changes due to use.
The word cult is no longer applied in the same context as the word church. Most people that attend services at a church are offended at the implication that their church should be associated, by definition, with the term cult. The word cult has too many negative connotations in today's society. It's one of the biggest arguments I get into when I talk to people. I do not like political correctness, I do not like beating around the bush and I don't like euphamisms.
However, using a term that offends people for the purpose of being offensive is not cool.

It's like people accepting Tomatoes as a vegetable, it doesn't make it true. They're a cult cause they share the same beliefs not because they're batshit crazy.

The simple fact is that your use of the word cult is correct. But it's as dated as saying that you're gay, when you mean to say that you're happy.

christ, I can't stand those people. I watched a documentary once which had a segment about them, and an excommunicated daughter of the family came out to talk. She didn't like the protests or their views so they literally just kicked her out, and she was scared for her siblings that were still there. :c Really sad.

they picketed at my brother's high school here in MD, so you know what all the local bikers did? They blockaded them from getting onto the school grounds and gave personal escort to all the buses and the students leaving by stationing guards and having them block traffic. The nuts left before first period even started since it was a fail.

I am never amazed by how a minority (used in terms here ONLY as being the much smaller group, nothing more) feels that THEIR views are the correct ones, and that everyone else is wrong. Even better is when they feel the majority needs to accept them as right and switch to their way of thinking. Shame they don't feel this is the case when I (the minoity) tell them that each of them owes me $100.
