Cartoon of the Week -- Weasel Gets Drunk

Excerpt from the animated series of The Animals of Farthing Wood:
In the book by Colin Dann that this series was based on, Weasel was male and wasn't silly. There is a scene where all the animals get drunk after Toad falls into a puddle of spilled cider and gets tipsy, encouraging the other animals to do the same, which they do. I guess the script writers thought it would be "funnier" to make a troublemaker out of Weasel and have her be the only one who gets drunk. Frankly, I enjoyed the book version better.

The unrealistic thing is that all the other animals (especially Badger) get so morally huffy about it. The way Badger was written in the animated series, he LOOKED like he could use a beer most of the time.
And yes, they DO get hangovers. I've heard tales from wildlife rehabbers of having "sick" Robins brought in that had been stuffing themselves with fermented berries. By next morning they are cranky and in some pretty obvious pain, but given some electrolyte solution and a little recovery time, and they are fine again, just like people.
Seems odd that they'd tuck in a moral lesson about drinking in a series otherwise known for being one of the the ultimate Anyone Can Die shows.
