[Philosophy]Being assimilated into the Fandom
17 years ago
When I was a wee /b/tard back in 2003, I talked with a fellow who had a furry for a friend. This guy was relating to me about how preoccupied most furs were with cocks, dicks, and yiff(not generally in that order), and that he had just been subjected to a series of gay pornographic pictures, including one which as he put it depicted two furries with gigantic cocks(Yours truly imagines that this must have been Hyper art).
I said, "Huh. Really."
Flash forward to 2008. I now have an FA page, a fursona(Scalesona? Dragon-sona?)that I consider to be as much a part of myself as my hands or feet, and I have a picture of 'myself' showing off my gigantic dragon-cock to a dear friend of mine(
twile). Although he doesn't appear to be pleased, just a little envious in that photo. But that's beside the point...
...Are furs more sexually open than most? It stands to reason, because pornography is always the first thing that comes to mind to others when the word "furry" is thrown around a lot. Plus I've found that I've even looked forward to the little RP sessions with my fellow dragons/equines(I'm looking at you,
generation4200), and I busily think about what commissions I should have done next. I spend hours trawling FA for art and interesting things, time that I usually would have spent doing more important things.
...Alright, so that's a lie. Instead I might have spent that time staring at a blank wall and being stoned out of my gourd. Maybe the fandom is actually a very positive force in my life when it comes to relaxation and meeting people, at least so far. It's fun to be a part of something, and even more so to be recognized as a character in my own right. Being a Dragon and an independent one at that marks me as something at the least, instead of being a faceless human being in a sea of bodies. People look at my page and see one single entity, instead of just another number. The individuality is very refreshing, for me. Plus, it's always nice to kick back and indulge myself in debauchery and unrestrained, stimulating sexual antics with others, or have art depicting such.
I suppose what I'm saying in the end is that I am at peace with myself where I am, and that I have no regrets. Dare I even say that I'm proud to be in the fandom? Yes, of course.
The only thing I shan't do is go around telling people in real life and in other circles of the internet that I am a dyed-in-the-wool fandom member now. Let's not get too hasty, shall we?

Furries do tend to be openly sexual, of course. Moreso than normal folks in real life. It's easier to be that way through computer mediated communications. Anonymity helps a lot. And hell, furs are just super sezzy. How could we not focus so much on porn? :3
