For PCs I have found that camtasia studio is one of the best. As for mac, I'm looking at a program called iShowU.

On PC over here. I think I tried Camtasia a long while back. I vaguely recall it bluescreening every time I ran it. But that was on Windows 2000, a real long time ago, If I recall correctly.

I'd used it on xp, an it wasn't giving me problems at all. The big advantage I saw was that their proprietary codec was able to keep up with the video, without bogging the system down. Don't bother with other capture codecs though, they just don't capture in real time over 10fps without bringing your computer to a crawl.

Hmm. If the video can actually keep up then thats what I'm gonna have to go with. The price tag is a bit, But I guess I plan on using it enough to get my moneys worth from it. Like I said below theres nothing more irritating then missing something cause of choppy video. Should it really come down to it though, I guess I can just try to go really slow.

I have the hosting for large files so the size of the video itself isn't too big an issue.

The official version is $37, but you can run a trial version for a while, too.

Ive run FRAPS in the past for other purposes, But I always seem to get very choppy video out of it, and for something like this I really would like 24 FPS. The files might be bigger, sure, But theres nothing more irritating then when you're watching a tutorial and you cant tell what menu commands are used because the video skipped over it.

Now, I'm going to try to explain everything I do, But I tend to use the marking menu a lot, so I want to at least make sure that if someone doesn't understand what I'm saying, they can at least see what command I used.

I have used a lot of different Screen Capture programs. Leave it to me to forget what they are though. Really... I don't think any of them ever did any better than Fraps. Except maybe this one i found that has a fox as a mascot. I just can't remember the name.

well, if you remember it, lemme know. Maybe its just me who cant get FRAPS do anything worth its processing power.

This is it... This is shareware but it may work for you for now.

Fraps will be very choppy unless you adjust 1 or 2 major things on it usualy. Try setting the video record size to half and make sure the fps it set to 30/29.997. Also, if you are on a dual core system try setting it to work on a single core. I've been using fraps since the begining of time and i used to have that problem back in the day before i tweaked it.
