To Blacklist and Block, or not?

I've never really cared to blacklist people. There's one person I've blacklisted and it was because his stupidity knew no bounds. So I blocked him and his alt account.
Recently, I had to end 2 five year long friendships. We all came to a mutual understanding and I thought it was over. But one of them made a new account. Whenever someone watches me, I look into their account. I like to see what kind of people are watching me.
This was a brand new account. Which already made me a little cautious. The only IM service he had listed was Yahoo, a favorite of said person. He also had a lot of people he was watching. Especially for a brand new account. When I looked at the watches, they were alphabetical. When I looked at my ex-friends account, the names were all the same.
The only picture uploaded was one drawn by "Person X" (the ex-friend). Which he (the new account) claimed was a "lucky" chance that Person X drew it for him.
I believe in coincidences. But the new person contacted me about FFXI and he just so happened to find my ex-friends and be playing on the same server as them.
There were a few other things that gave me reason to question, but I think I've stated enough.
Well, I had my suspicions, but wanted to give Person X the benefit of the doubt and assume he wasn't trolling me. I contacted an admin and asked them to check the accounts.
Sure enough, I was being trolled. So, in a brilliant flash of anger, I decided to counter-troll and start insulting my ex-friends to the new guy. I should've just blocked him. That would've been the smart thing to do.
Long story short (too late), he finally acknowledged on his account that he made a new account. I attempted to message him one last time but he already blocked me.
Here's what gets me. Why would he do that? Pretend to be someone else. Why? Was it just trolling? Or was he hoping to start a new friendship? If that's the case, what happens when I find out who he is? What was his end game here?
I've she'd enough tears over our friendships being destroyed. I took all the blame for it too. I wanted them to forget about me and move on with their lives. I wish I could forget about them, because all they remind me of is hurt.
What should I do? Block all of his names? Report him? Ignore the whole thing?

I've had a similar situation happen to me. I chose to block every one of her accounts on everything I knew her on, and chose to forget her existence. I refuse to acknowledge any of the time I spent together with her. Makes life easy to just rewind my brain and erase those who do me wrong from my memory.

if you feel that you just want to let them go and break ties then just block or ignore them bud, you don't need any reminders of the pain they caused your or you all had. Just keep living your life best you can with the friends who will stick by you
