Agreed even though I'm one of them. Most of them are just uneducated on that they only just read it they don't actually THINK it.

what's funny is NEARLY every "story" or "lesson" in the bible contradicts itself at least 5 times later on in one way or another.

like towards the beginning I think Genesis, one of the people says something like "I have seen the face of god in all it's glory" BUT then later on in like John and John 1, something like that - regardless it's later than Genesis - it says "no one has seen the face of god."

then it says things like sacraficing is bad - then 50 other times AFTER "god died so we could all be clensed" people were murdered to appease god because -gasp- the church told them to.

but let's take this into a more modern sense.
The Crusades from england to all sorts of different countries around the middle eastern-ish areas, were - among other things - to find the holy grail. this mystical cup that holds jesus blood and blah blah. last I checked DURING that crusade, tens of cities were pillaged, pilfered, and plundered (yeah I know, same thing) because they either didn't have it, or because the chuch told them to for being infidels and slanderers to the church.

I could be wrong, but to me it seems like chistianity is one of those cultist religions "bow to me or I'll kill you" groups. not sure I'd want to be terrorized by a bunch of heathen warmongers who pick and choose from the "bible buffet"

I'm not christian, I'm not an atheist either - I believe there is the possibility of SOMETHING else out there sure, but until he, she, or it comes down and shakes my hand - I don't believe it. FAAAR too much contradictions to be believable, and anyone with more than three braincells in their head could see this. Yes that might be a personal attack on them as a cult. Wait my bad, as a religion, but until you can PROVE to me without the shadow of ANY doubt that "this is certified proof" you can stuff it as far as I'm concerned.

here's yet another fun fact: clerics of the medieval times were some of the only people who could read, write, OR translate - excluding the nobles of the time. how is this funny? if you tell an innocient child not to touch the stove because it's hot and god will burn their fingers if they do - they will believe you. If a cleric from the past times (and for this example, knew the weather patterns and harvest dates) told the farmer "you must give the church all your grain now, and god will be appeased. and if you don't, god will wither your crops." you can make them give you whatever you want - purely because of the lower class' ignornace in the subject.

religion is a joke - just like the government. live your own life by your own standards, but maintain your own standards constantly. the general public will like you far more (and the extremists will hate you - but those are only the ignorant zealots)

glad you share my view on religion, and agnostic is the term i think you are looking for...Christianity isnt the only "bow to me or i kill you" religions....pretty much all are like that...cept some of the asia based religions

oh trust me - I get all sorts of wacko bible beaters at my hotel. one even said "you know, man shouldn't try going to other planets because god won't allow it." well, we went and landed on the moon with people, and we have landed man-made stuff all over the galaxy, so... obviously that's something god doesn't care about.

I mean really, last I checked it didn't say humans couldn't be explorative and reach for the stars.
