GET YOUR MONEY OUT OF PAYPAL WHILE YOU CAN.
So today I logged onto my paypal account because I wanted to send
OceanTiger11 some money for drawing me this fabulous work of art:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8594513/
Only to find my paypal account has been locked out.
This was quizzing, because last time I logged in a month ago, everything worked fine. In fact I used it just recently to pay
leelee for some art, so I know nothing was wrong with it. I was not over drawn, nor had I put in false information, or tried to pull money out of a bank account that was empty. Yet sure a shit stinks, I could not add or remove any money in the account.
Upon further reading, I learned that Paypal is now instigating a new rule that requires I show them a photo of your drivers licence and social security. If you can't proof that you are who you say you are, they lock out the account.
Now, I'm fairly sure that I am not going to take a photo of my SOCIAL FUCKING SECURITY CARD and SEND it to these dumb motherfuckers. My own Bank that handles my Real money did not even ask to see my social security card when I opened the account. Why the fucking hell does motherfucking Paypal require it? To make matters worse, any money I had in the account cannot be moved to my bank either. They're holding it ransom.
I'm not comfortable with them having my social #, or my credit card # (Yes, they really did ask for that), or a photo of my drivers licence. I don't like showing Other Real People these things, much less people in other countries I have never seen or met, to just float around on the internet like free fucking candy.
LOL, OK PAYPAL IF YOU INSIST.
HOWS THIS PHOTO OF ME GIVING YOU THE MIDDLE FINGER?
HOW ABOUT THIS ONE OF MY ASS?
HOW ABOUT THIS ONE OF THE HEALTHY SHIT I TOOK THIS MORNING?
You catch my drift.
Paypal will receive a photo of my social # the day half my brain in removed from my skull to be ate by hungry cannibals and the other half is used as a sex toy.
So anyone else know a paypal like site that is not full of horse shit?

I guess I'll be on the lookout for another site, too. I used paypal a lot. Hm.
This was the second time I've had one of those moments. The first time was when I realized you can pirate games and not pay for them.
otherwise . . .id surely start with another site, when my wife gets home i can give the one she used for a while
I belive they only needed 2 out of the 3 to verify and lift the lock.
To say I even had a drivers. What if I didn't? I know quite a few people who don't have one. Is paypal really telling me someone can't use their site because they don't have a drivers licence?
I've done plenty of business with that site in the past. They're got more than their fair share of my money and I was fine with giving it to them if it meant the convenience of moving money around online. But this is drawing a fat line that I am not willing to cross, and I don't think anyone else should cross it either. This is a joke at the expense of their costumers.
And I think they're doin' this to up their security on Paypal. I know there have been a few people that use Paypal that have had issues with paypal where they were hacked. I think what they're doin' is gettin' the info now and then if someone hacks a person's paypal, and changes the e-mail or does whatever, Paypal would ask for the same info again, and if it doesn't match, they'd close the account after gettin' a report of the account bein' hacked.
That's just my opinion on why they might be doin' it. Maybe call up Paypal and talk to a rep and ask why they need the info. They'll probably be better help than me.
They also give me no option to move the money to my bank account. What 'security' does this provide? The bank account has been attached to paypal since I created it years ago. Surely a hacker would not be so kind as to bother putting all my money back into My Own bank account?
And did you have a limit of up to only 500$ bein' able to be withdrawn from your account? (I believe that includes transferin' money to your paypal and to someone elses or to your bank) 'Cause if so, that's the most likely reason that it came up..
The people who code Paypal are not stupid. They know when someone sets up a transfer to another account. Does sending money to my bank account. which as I said has been attached to that account for some times now really send up a red flag?
No. Instead let's hold all that money hostage until they can be so kind as to send us a photo of their Social Fucking Security so when a hacker attacks our site and steals all those photos we'll be screwed up the ass.
Because I don't give two shits how good you THINK the security on your site is, there is always gonna be someone better who can get in and take what they want. Paypal is asking for trouble by demanding this information. And I aint gonna be one of the poor rubes who gets their identity stolen when that happens because I was stupid enough to take a photo of my irreplaceable social security number and send it to a website that has a history of dumbfuckery.
I meant do you have a link to it? my account is fine
If you're looking for links, here's just a few;

You can just google 'Paypal requiring SSN/Credit Card/Drivers licence" and see the ungodly list of complaints yourself.
But there again, yer Canadian Ehh? You may never get asked.
I sure hope not. I don't drive and I don't think they'd accept my expired pilot's license, either.
Do you know if I can tell if PP is messing with me if my balance is at $0 anyway (I just logged in and it looks normal but... ehhh)? I don't keep money in there and I don't ever take money from my bank to put in it; I only use PP to receive payments from clients and then immediately withdraw them to my bank. If I need to pay someone for art, I'll usually pay by credit card or whatever.
When you do credit card payments, how do you do that for a artist type commission?
I've been meaning to switch over to Alert Pay or Google Checkout though. PP gets so much hate online for basically committing fraud against its own users-- I think it was Sushi Ushi who recently had money stolen from her, something about a false chargeback where she gave shipping proof and they sided with the buyer anyway? IDK. What a bunch of slimeballs.
And when they get hacked and everyone gets their credit cards and identities stolen, I'm gonna say 'told you so'.
I also don't think Jesie replied to you in a snarky way like you did. Its her own personal choice to not want to give faceless companies important bits of information about her life, just like in the OP- I mean journal, so people should really stop saying "They do it because of reasons", she's still not gonna give up. Not that its a bad thing, anyways.
I know paypal isn't the best site out there. If v.me goes into working order this year I'll be switching over as long as the company has a debit card that comes with it. I understand paypal is just like any other site and if you want to be paranoid that is fine. She seemed rather confused from my reading the journal as to why they are doing it ect and I laid out that I have been through the exact same thing and it's an easy fix.
If I didn't need to live off paypal to make a living sure, i'd tell pp to shove it. But I'm not going to rally up and complain about something that is painstakingly a part of internet funds and life. Just like any online proof of buying something, you have to divulge your information, whether it's a credit card number, your address, real name and yes, sometimes they need proof of ID.
But we don't need people caps lock telling us omg! you better run with your money now! Someone wants to make sure I'm the correct person using a site!
Because if you want to trust your money with paypal, who have in the past shown to be;
Absolute: https://www.paypal-community.com/t5.....le.language=en
Fucking: http://www.regretsy.com/2011/12/05/cats-1-kids-0/
Morons: http://www.paypalsucks.com/
Well you can be my more than welcomed guest.
Company do not change retarded ass policies until enough people tell them to go fuck themselves. Maybe if you Tell Them they're idiots and asking for SSNs form users who have never gave them troubles in the past is fucking ridiculous, Maybe they'll stop asking.
We should provide the same information as opening a credit card, and then they run a credit/background check like any credit card application.
It sucks, but better safe then sorry.
The consolation, if there is any, is that PayPal to their modicum of credit have arguably improved as a service (inch by jagged little pill inch) and you can, for the most part, 'trust' them that they'll keep your information safe and only use it for times when it's necessary. Watch me eat my words on that one day, and maybe since I've been using them as long as I have, as frequently as I have, I've become complacent. But yeah absolutely no surprise.
... Could also partly be because the IRS is becoming stricter with asking PayPal to report to them, especially if you earn $X, and having this information helps to prevent tax evasion (or punish it).
There is AlertPay... now known as Payza... but if only this community would start using it again. I remember hearing a lot of complaints about AlertPay simply 'losing' peoples' money into the abyss, but perhaps Payza has addressed this since it was purchase. We shall see.
I've never used alertpay/payza. I remember the brewhaha about them canceling FA's usage over cubporn, but I didn't realize they were like paypal.
I'll look into them. Thank you Kaput :3
But then again I'd never get my beautiful arts of me on the envelop :3
REGARDLESS, this is some major bullshit!
