Fursonas: What do you view them as?
I had this pop into my head today. Nearly everyone has a fursona within the furry community, but why do we create them in the first place? Do we view them as extensions of ourselves? In other words, do they stem from a part of our personality? Other questions that came to me regarding this were, do we create them as a bit of an alter ego, do we make them up as an imaginary friend we can turn too privately when life gets rough? Or do we simply create them just for the sake of fitting in to the furry community? I'd like to know how and why other furries created their fursonas and how they view them.
Oh, and in case you're wondering my fursona, the raccoon named Randy Ringtail (hance the name), I created as an alter ego of myself. :)

Physically we're different too. Randy has quite a muscular physique, but I'm rather skinny. Like you UGA, I also gave him washboard abs, but I don't have those either, though my goal is to have those by next spring. He is also a little bit taller than me (5' 10"), whereas I'm a couple inches shorter.
And yes buddy, you did answer my questions, and hopefully, as people here get to know me and my fursona Randy, they'll see that we possess many of the same qualities.
