actually its only bad in certain regions and districts depending on who your RD and DM are. The big thing now is cause buisness is down from what it was last year it cuts into employee hours. if they didnt cut hours from the front line staff they wouldnt have to cut customer service and would be a better place to work..
I dunno, I think it has a lot more to do with the emphasis on selling new offers (i-devices, preorders, etc) than the short hours. Both make it pretty annoying, but the method of judging a good employee from a bad one based on numbers is awful and causes a ton of personnell issues. We have a kid who works about one day a week who gets really high numbers (by percentage - we're talking like 24% and 20% from having 2 and 1) but can't alphabetize, works walls in three times the necessary amount of time, and slacks off all day...but we have another guy who works his ass off, sells a TON on the floor and behind the counter, and who has amazing customer service but also only gets one day a week because his numbers often end up around 15% and 10%.
It bothers me that we're supposed to treat customers like dumb sheep and our employees like computers, that's all.
in my store we dont treat our customers like that.. its why i have people repeat buisness looking for just me. as far as my district goes our dm is on edge cause of the RD. and i am sure she is your RD too. its push from the higher ups to do more from the front line.. i just wish they would give us more hours so we could get everything they wanted done.. if its slow we send someone home instead of being understaffed.
Sadly, I have to agree because I do work there now, and boy is it retarded. I got a grand total of 4 hours this week, even though I managed to pull 6 reserves by myself in one day on friday.
They go by percentage, which is retarded, because in that same day, came in this fat retarded guy who just COULDN'T make up his mind, and was returning a game, and also trading one in.
We aren't allowed to do returns and trade ins on one transaction, so the guy made it as lengthy and retarded as possible for me, so instead of doing two transactions he made me do three ._.
he's like "TRADE THIS IN AND PUT IT ON A CARD BECAUSE I WANT $9 INSTEAD OF $7, AND THEN RETURN THIS" and I asked if he wanted to go look around, he's like "can't you just put it on that card ?" "No, that's a trade card, I told you I could either give you $7 cash, or put it on this card, that was all I can do" (he didn't have a powerup card, and was hell bet on not getting one, even my manager couldn't convince him) then I give him cash. Then he's like "OOH I WANT THIS GAME" And buys a game wasting the trade card I did for him 8I and eating up my transactions.
I get those a lot. People in our town are ridiculously entitled, so I constantly have the whiny "But I'm a special snowflake, I should get ___ my way!" customers.
Today a man insisted he get $30 back in cash trade for Madden 2012. Lol, no.
And I hope soon they update the card system so we only have /one/ type of card we need for trade in credit. u_u I hate the trade/gift card system, it's a pain in the ass and pisses customers off and wastes money and resources.
I'm a manager now, and it's only getting worse. Being a GA is at least a lot less pressure. I'm no longer just responsible for my numbers, I have to make sure everyone else's res and sub numbers are just as good as mine.
Good luck sticking with it.

That's the first episode, but he doesn't talk about how employees are treated until later.
...Um.... Bull?
