Got home safe from RMFC
Okay, so RMFC... Wow
This is the first con where I really dove in to volunteering, I've done minor stuff before but here I went full bore, and I LOVED it. It may sound funny, but being a part of something that brings joy to hundreds of furries was more fun to me than just attending a con normally. I did make a little time for myself, I attended the GoH panels, I used my time walking the dealers den to snag some things for myself. Attended the sponsor events... I'm sure I did other things but gods honest truth I'm starting to understand the blur effect that people are always talking about.
The things I do remember I don't have the dates exactly correct in my mind, so I'm going to hold off a bit on writing the review and read the schedule again.
Suffice it to say RMFC was a BLAST.. really, the best part was hearing from people who attended what a great time they had... I've always wanted to give back to the community... I guess I did a little (though I don't hold a candle to the Amazing organizers of this convention... once I've slept I'll update this journal with all their Icons)
If you haven't attended RMFC you should! The attendees, the staff, and the locals are the friendliest I've ever met... I personally saw 3 random... ah... Denverians? buy memberships just to see the fursuit dance! The hotel staff were in on the fun, were super friendly and extremely attentive to anything I saw them asked for (or asked for).
From a Spec Ops perspective, nothing burned down, nobody died, we were not chased down the hall by a 20 foot wall of water, these were all good things.
There was a minor hiccup with the Dance one night, and all it did was show that furries are patient and tolerant and understanding. I didn't have anyone get upset or complain at all while they were waiting for things to get sorted.
I'm going back next year, I'm bringing more people, you should do the same! I'll be volunteering again next year, if they'll have me, that's up to anyone who reads this, but going to RMFC shouldn't be a question. I know August is cluttered but Bucktown tiger offered a free music collection to anyone who attends RMFC, IFC, and Megaplex... I say you should try it, but if thats too much for you, just come to RMFC! The convention where EVERYONE joins the mile high club!!*
*Of people who have been at least 1 mile above sea level, not guarantees of anything other than that, and an awesome convention experience!
