I've been trying to post stuff and send notes to no avail. This journal might not even go though. So is it like back to school week and everyone is trying to get their porn surfing in or something?

It's been on and off for me...right now it's smooth as bread-n-butter, but a few hours ago it took like 30 seconds to a minute to load one page.

It's been horribly slow recently - a bit of analysis shows a problem with the database backend (notably 15-18 queries per page). It seems in their rush to rip off DeviantArt's interface, FA's coders included the horrific slowness to improve the "experience".
