Taking sides in some Console War thingy
Ok, so I finally bit the bullet and decided to save up for an XBox 360. I thought about it carefully, and figured that it has what I want in a gaming system. When I mentioned it to people I know, they agreed it's a good system, but I had one person tell me that I should get a PS3 instead. Now, normally I'd be fine with this, everyone is entitled to their opinion after all. But when I asked why, the first thing he said was that the XBox 360 is fine if I "just want a gaming system." ...yeah.
He went on to talk about how the PS3 can do video conferencing and burn DVDs...I didn't have the heart to shut him up by telling him my laptop does all that stuff already. He actually called the PS3 a supercomputer. Dude, I don't want to hijack missile silos, I just want to play Halo 3! Look, I'm not saying the PS3 is a bad system. Neither is the Wii for that matter. I have my reasons for picking the 360 instead of those other systems. The XBox 360 has more games that I want, it's a fair balance of gameplay and graphical beauty, and it has the best online experience overall. Those are the things I want. As for the Wii...my mate already has one, why be redundant?
But in the end, it's all about the games. That's what won out for me. I came up with a little system for picking which console I wanted: The system that has an exclusive game for every 50 dollars I would spend on the console wins. I'm saving for the Elite console, which costs $450 (before tax). That's 9 exclusive games, and here they are:
1. Halo series
2. Gears of War series
3. Dead Or Alive 4 and DOA Xtreme 2 (Hey, at least I admit it XP)
4. Viva Pinata (I'm a furry, what do you want from me?)
5. Tenchu Z
6. Fable series
7. Perfect Dark Zero
8. Rumble Roses XX (Yeah yeah, I'm still admitting it)
9. Too Human (It's not out yet, but it probably will be by the time I can buy the system)
The PS3 just doesn't have the same amount of exclusive games I want. Let's try it: $400 means 8 games:
1. Warhawk
2. DC Universe
3. Ratchet & Clank Future
4...yeah, that's about it.
I just have more to gain from getting an XBox. Feel free to debate my decision, but I know what I want.
