Half-baked ideas at 3AM (ALIEN H.R. Giger)

I want to suggest something that may come as a surprise. If you are reading this, chances are you are watching my. If you are watching me, chances are you are at least vaguely familiar with my work. Also, from the title of this journal you may already see where this is going.
Most of the time I submit cute, fluffy animals. I favorite overtly cute pictures, or funny things. I am not exactly what you would consider a monster fan.
As you may have already guess, one huge exception to my pattern is ALIEN. Yes, ALIEN, the 1979 thriller/sci-fi classic.
I adore the art design of H.R. Giger (pronounced GEE-ger). Not to mention Ridley Scott's superb work on capturing it all.
Okay, I am rambling, and have not even told you what my half backed plan actually is.
I want to make a xenomorph. No, xenomorphs. I would like to see if any one of you would be interested in teaming up to do this. Maybe a commission from me to make on for you, maybe a partnership, maybe a parts maker, maybe I would even order a xenomorph from you. Really the bottom line is, we need more of them, and I want to be part of that effort.
I am not 100% sure what I am asking. But it is looking like I am going to go ahead, and make my weekend project all about making ALIEN for reals. I would like to ether make the one dog alien from ALIEN III (horrid movie, but awesome alien design) or the good old fashioned ALIEN from the 1979 movie.
Anyway, if you have any interest, weather you would like to commission me, or to work with me, let me know. And we can work out what we can come up with.
None of this is set in stone, so it may be best to sit down and chat with me if you are interested.
Thanks!
-Jeff

Its a Predator fan site but there are people on there that make Alien suits, you can get a raw alien kit that you paint and assemble yourself all you need is some basic latex work knowledge and you can have an awesome alien suit
The only reason i say that (and believe me i have considered the kit on more than one occasion) is because I really never see exactly what I want out of the kit suits. Like the Digitigrade you see on the ALIENIII "runner" alien. Or, the often overlooked piping issues on the kit heads. they are the ALIENS design. I loved the qussn, but the drones where missing something on the version.
My boyfriend is thinking of getting a kit and I am already planning on redoing the legs to accomodate digi stilts and sculpting new feet (the kit ones are terrible. At least the kit offers a start point to build from
Exactly, it gives you something to work with. Now, for me, I don't like to start with kits, because you do tend to start working within the kit's confines. Well, I should say I tend to start working within the confines. I was the kind of kid that HAD to make the Lego's perfect first, before I would even make my own thing. This tendency has not changed.
If you do get a kit you must share the photos.
'If it bleeds, we can kill it!"
(Some of my fave line of all time are fromn that movie!)

I'd be happy to work on something like this! ouo
Now if you do make one of the original Giger aliens I might be interested in purchasing depending on how my funds are at the moment. Another idea that would be cool is if you made your own parts kits that you could recast and sell yourself because I know there are many people on the Alienslegacy forum looking for them (self included).
I'd consider starting with a dive skin on the body and build on top of that using similar technique but that has serious drawbacks with respect to costume breath-ability. More ideal would be finding a fabric that looks right and using that over foam which was adhered to a dive skin.
Hands and feet will require care. I can see using finger extensions to get the menacing claw look but they wouldn't articulate right. Tail articulation also would be a challenge. Easiest would be to just have the tail in a permanent curve up and over the back. But that requires a fairly rigid core and a serious support.
In a nutshell, we know it can be done because it was done on the movie. It's a serious undertaking but I think the journey there would be an amazing learning experience and the end product would be fun even if it wasn't perfect. Performance is more than half of what makes the costume.
Try some cosplay forums I'm sure someone will commission you.
I still love that movie.
Do you still need a DTD? I can make one for you in a jiff.
Nice work btw. :)
I am really really really excited to get started. needless to say. I will be posting WIP pics as we go.
So excited.
