Upstate New York
So, this past week, I took a trip that I was supposed to take 4 years ago. I went to upstate New York to hang out with my good friend
ctcwired. My week was pretty good, granted, all of us there did go through a little hell, it was definitely something I'd do again.
My trip started at the airport where I keep my personal plane, yes, I own a plane. I was going to fly to an airport in upstate New York where
ctcwired would pick me up. I wasn't intending to leave my plane there for a week, so I was flying with my step-father so he could fly the plane back to our home base. We loaded the plane up, went to top off our fuel tanks, and as we were taxing to the runway for take off, we noticed that our avionics were dying... The battery in the plane was nearly dead, we taxied around some more to try and charge the battery up. But alas, that did nothing. So, I quickly booked a commercial flight. We drove to the airport where I was taking my newly booked commercial flight to Buffalo, NY.
Now, just so you know, this was my 7th commercial flight of the month. I've been doing a lot of traveling. But this, by far, was the worst experience I had while flying commercially. Checking my bag was simple and easy, I got to the security line, did the usual thing... Then, boom, random security check. Which yes, I understand that happens, but the TSA agents I was dealing with where extremely rude. Luckily, it was only a palm swab instead of a pat down.
So got through that... Walked to my gate and I noticed, the Terminal C at LGA is well... A fucking dump. There is also no seating at all in the area I was in. After standing there for a while, I decided to go get some lunch, after walking about a mile and a half, I finally found some food... I got a slice of Pizza, which, in NYC, is supposed to tast good. But no, it tasted like crap. I walked back to my gate, got my seat changed to 4D, which in the SRJ700 I was in, happens to be right behind first class, so I had amazing leg room. We were delayed by about 20 minutes boarding. We easily made up for it in the air though. I got to BUF and well, I wasn't surprised to see that the airport was much nicer then LGA. It's a known fact, the major New York City airports just suck.
So, I got my bag and waited for my ride.
ctcwired and
zen_wolf_420 picked me up with someone who shall remain nameless. I'm not going to go into too much detail on my week, because well, I'm sure most of you know what it's like to spend a week furiends. =P
I will say this though, I have never felt so much at home in someplace other then my house before. It felt normal to be there. Now, I had also never meet any of these furs in person before, I've known them for years though. But, it was nice to see that all of us where the same in person.
I absolutely needed that week... It was a nice break and a great way to end my summer. Thank you, all of you who I hung out with.
Now... Remember the detail about the trip there? Well, the way home was just as bad. I was also waiting for over 30 minutes at baggage claim at LGA before they even started to push bags out.
But... That week made me realize, I really need to get involved more with the furry community here in Connecticut... I just wish all of them weren't so far away xD
Anyway, I'd like to just say thank you to
ctcwired for everything. My last two nights were much better thanks to you. I also can't wait to hear the podcasts =P
Alright, that's really it... Sorry for boring you to death everyone xD
