MiDFur Announcement:
What an intense week for the MiDFur team! This time last week there was gnashing of teeth and salty tears- it really did feel like the end days.But we're glad to say that the time of turmoil has gone, although it does leave some sad news in it's wake.
As you all know, BLOTCH are a pair of fantastic artists who live in the States. BlackTeagan and Kenket. Two weeks ago, the awesome Kenket was in court for the finalisation of her American Citizenship process. The final step that would allow her a passport, the right to vote, the right to live as a permanent member of USA society. There was nothing else to do.
Alas, due to a sorry mix-up, the judge did not have the necessary documents with him that day, and he post-poned the court date until next June.
This means Kenket is not yet a US citizen, and if she were to leave the country, she could face the risk of a 10 year block.
It is with heavy hearts that we must announce that, for essential reasons, Kenket will not be joining us at MiDFur 2012.
BlackTeagan, being her partner, is loyally staying at her side.
But hey! Don't fear- after the MAJOR pulling of some ropes and quick thinking on the part of your MiDFur Board and BLOTCH themselves, we are thrilled to announce that:
Dark Natasha will be joining us as keynote Guest of Honour at MiDFur 2012: Furry Apocalypse Cometh!
Dark Natasha was due to be joining us next year as our keynote Guest of Honour (part of the top secret planning we had already been putting in place for MiDFur 2013)But when she found out about our sad situation, she stepped forward and offered to fill the place of BLOTCH. You guys get a famous artist afterall! Serious round of applause for Dark Natasha and Blotch, who care *so* much about our Aussie con that they've worked this out for us!
Now, it's disappointing to know that we won't be seeing Blotch this year (they share our pain). So we're bringing them over next year, alongside Dark Natasha! That's THREE major artists when we were only getting one! (and that's not even the full array of guests we're bringing in, either!)
Soooo, now that Dark Natasha is the GoH, what about all that fancy, purty Blotch art?
Well, lucky us! We're getting TWO official MiDFur Shirts this year. DarkNatasha is already fast at work designing a unique 2012 co-shirt. Both Blotch and DarkNatasha's shirts will be available as official shirts, sold in a pack of 2, or seperately (don't connect with one design? Well, you got a choice!)
Now...for the bit of tasty, delicious, THRILLING news that has had the MiDFur Team walking around with the STUPIDEST grins for the past two days...
Blotch, in their loyalty to us- and out of the good, kindness of their heart- are donating the *original* MiDFur 2012 Dual Con badge design to the MiDFur Charity Auction this year.
Yes. The *original*. Not a print. Not a copy. The original. Penstrokes and all. The actual handiwork. The only one in existence.
(To give you an idea of the enormity of this- an original Blotch artwork usually goes for $5000 or more. ) I can see some of you stashing extra savings away already- this is a once in a LIFETIME piece of furry art.

Now one more quick announcement before we leave you with some awesome dreams about the amazing new set of art we'll be getting (double artness, it's so intense).
The Space Hotel, MiDFur's official overflow accomodation in 2012, have let us know that there are a few rooms left on the reserved list- but time is running out! If you don't get in and book a room, you lose out on the killer discount they've given us. So hurry up and book your space, because it's the most convenient place to stay!
Here's a list of the room types and discount prices. Find friends to share with, it'll be totally cheap!

I'm so glad that Natasha was able to come in her place, that was so kind of her! (It'll be so wunnerful to see her again! :)
