Status Update: Medical Insurance Expiring
13 years ago
General
I know I have been rather quiet on FA for the last 2 weeks. This is nothing personal against anyone. I am alive but not very well. Plenty has happened drama wise recently, so I am going to summarize the highlights and move on from this point.
Medical Insurance Related:
-Finished and mailed and faxed in the paperwork to continue to keep my current health care insurance. Without it I do not have any medical, dental, optical, or mental health coverage.
-Sent a reminder e-mail to the insurance so let them know it was sent on Friday and a follow up e-mail on Monday asking only if it was received. Have not heard any other feedback from them other than it was recieved. Yes, I am checking my e-mail spam folder eagerly daily.
-It may be as long as October 20th before I hear anything relating to being approved or denied.
If I am denied, I will deal with the news the best I can and consider other options for long term care.
If I am approved, I will be overjoyed and grateful.
In the meantime...:
-Saw 2 our of my 3 regular doctors in time to bring them up to speed of the soon to be lack of medical insurance situation.
-I was issued a new medication.
-Received recommendations of their colleagues to talk to should I need follow up care in the meantime.
-Was advised to go to the ER only if my situation is really bad. Was given 2 referrals, good for only 30 days, that I cannot use until I have my medical insurance back due to being in network providers.
-Did some basic checking on those recommendations of who to see off site and how much it would be for basic follow up care for multiple medical conditions. In summery, I am unable to afford to pay for $100-$350 out of pocket per office visit on my own (not covering additional medicine, blood-work, or any additional tests needed to manage multiple life long medical conditions).
-Inquired from my social network for help outside of furries. Family and friends are already either stretched too thin to help (due to lack of hours and/or already living paycheck to paycheck) or are uncaring and unwilling to help who tell me to quit college, give up my art, and go get a real full time job.
-The free clinic in my area is unable to do much to help me other than:
a) Tell me what I already know. Both specialists I should see are not on staff - of course. Two of my issues cannot be solved with routine care that can simply listen and issue some pill, potion, or lotion to treat the symptoms.
b) If I get really bad go to the ER and arrange some sort of payment plan due to no insurance. *sigh*

That would make sence for low income or if I had children to take care If I am denied, I could look into it.
