If I am doing art for you, whether it's a commission or trade NEVER give me artistic freedom with "gore". With most people when they say this they just mean blood, but to me, it means you could see the entire digestive tract. Now when I look into the dictionary it says;
1.
blood that is shed, especially when clotted.
2.
murder, bloodshed, violence, etc.
So it could really be either one, but how I see it is if you say "add gore to the picture" then know that flesh will be ripped and it won't be a simple nosebleed. If you only want blood then tell me that you want it "bloody" so that when I finish the product you aren't disgusted and regret your decision. Because you know it really hurts me if somebody gets something from me that they don't like, it's the most disappointing thing to have a customer or other artist dislike what you did for them.
In short, be more specific in what you'd like so that everybody is happy C:
This actually hasn't happened as far as I know but I wouldn't like for it to ever happen <3

but yea that's true, bruising or even just something harmful could be better than a few cuts but it depends the quantity
though personally I don't involve bruising in art for somebody else unless they say they want it since it generally implies assault
but yep very true, some people say it's this others say it's that haha
