Take a look at the page linked in their journal.
A new one just came out.
back to my original question, why not make more decks?
It probably also has to do with the contracts with artists who make art. Most contracts for this type of work will state how many copies of that art piece are to be made, as well, why make more of an old thing when you can move on and do better things?
It clears up old stock and makes room for new stock. I know since 1stV theyve changed to look of the cards and tweaked a few things about the game. Why go back to how it used to look when its different now?
Those are a few logical reasons i could think of. I'm sure there are more things related to the business end of things as to why more decks arent made. Only seppel and those who work closely would know i would guess.
There -are- other 'anthro' games thats are played by non-furs. sexualized. Like the catgirl card game. Sure, its not -porn- but i know plenty of non furs who'd have a blast playing furoticon. It doesnt take a furry to play it.
I understand your point, but reproducing old decks still is a waste of resources as well reduces the value of the cards and in doing so, can really mess with the way the game is played. It would probably end up costing them more then bringing in. Also, its not like being out of first vanilla really matters. They have other decks to sell and come out with one every year. >. > Being out of stock of one thing isnt going to impair future sales.
regardless, this conversation is going no where. So. This is my last post.
the stuff your talking about only applies to the really big card games like Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic and Pokemon which have huge install bases, those games discontinue their decks and boosterpacks after each year and come out with new ones to get people to buy the new ones, those are multimillion dollar companies that have that much money to spend and huge instal bases. Furoticon is a small card game they can't make new cards and discontinue the old ones every year because they don't have a big enough instal base and they don't have enough money to do that.
It would absolutely hurt the after-market value of the cards if we were to reprint a set. Many 1st Vanilla cards are now worth 2x to 10x their original value, if in mint condition. To reprint the set would flood the market and reduce the value of those cards and make the passionate collectors very angry at us for devaluing their collection. We don't want to do that! :)
If we want to reprint a card, we bring it back in a future set. Sometimes even with new art!
Not only are they game pieces, but more importantly they also are limited print runs of artists' artwork. They have significant meaning to the community as a whole, regardless of their pornographic content (more than 20% of all Furoticon cards are G-rated), and this holds monetary and sentimental value to our community. :)
For example, a full set of all 14 cards Lazzydragon has done for Furoticon is worth well over $100, and that's if you manage to find anyone who'd be willing to part with them. :)
If people want the 1st Vanilla male deck, they're going to have to get it from other sources. In the meantime, we will continue to print new male decks. :)
