Life update (rant)

So, here I am dead tired and at the end of my wits. Work ever since I got back has been nothing short of a disaster. The first rotation I got back to work was a 5er. Not too bad, I am used to them. What I'm not used to is almost every veterinary emergency for me to deal with in a course of 5 days. Day 4 had me thrown into my first ferret anesthesia on my own. Now here's some background information. My first ever ferret anesthesia was not exactly ideal.
I walk into the door to see everyone gathered around this kennel. The manager says "You have 15 minutes, you two meet up, and plan this" I'm here going "What? Are you joking?" Well, next 15 minutes sucked balls. The other tech that was SUPPOSED to be helping me out here, well, she's not exactly helpful. We've had a few ferrets come in for surgery. I asked everytime if she could show me the ropes. Every single time I got "Oh, it's a bit busy. I'll show you when it's slower" Yeah, good fucking job. So, great, 15 minutes. Well, forget a "meeting" It was "Oh, So, I have to go. I have plans. Watch jaw tone, temperature, I'm intubating for you so that I don't have to wait around, this is what you do, stop freaking out, BYE!" So, here I am left with a ferret getting cut open...great.
And that is my first ever ferret anesthesia. My first one on my own...well, after that one time, I became expert apparently. Great, no support and everything is all mine. Surprisingly, I managed through it. Albeit I missed a few things but come on, considering my experiences, at least the thing's alive.
The next day to that rotation didn't fare much better, I had of all things, a blocked ferret. FML.
So Day 5 finished. I was finally tucking into bed at around 5am. Finally, rest. That is until the damn phone rang. So, my sister just had to pick the worst time for me to go into labour. Needless to say, 3-4 hours total of sleep was not fun. I quickly bailed to stay with my boyfriend for a couple of days. That evening sucked more. I alled my mom to tell her I arrive but got a busy tone. When I finally got her before bed, she started yammering away telling me to send pictures, help her get on Facebook, etc. For pity's sake, I want sleep.
The rotation after that was ok. I mean, let's finish up the emergency list and stuff them all into this week. I think I nearly killed my boss when she's like "Oh, this dog needs a blood transfusion" I of course looked at her stunned and said "tonight?!" She nods like it's nothing. Normally, I'd be all up for it, if I wasn't the only tech and already having problems keeping up with everything else. YIKES.
This rotation...well. I think broke records. Not too busy, but everyone has decided to get sick. Blargh.
So, I think I need some serious sleep.
