A Bit More About Me
So, yeah. Sorry for... well, no activity whatsoever, but I'm in College now! Besides having a connection apparently made of popsicle sticks and wishful thinking, I'm pretty busy. But, I'm here to do a meme, because they have been a guilty pleasure of mine for years.
1. Who are you?
A neurotic, yet idealistic and ambitious man. I'm going places. Whether I'm going there in a straitjacket or not has yet to be seen.
2. What are the 3 most important things everyone should know about you?
I'm very religious. I'm a firm believer in Christ, but I'm not a fire-and-brimstone guy. I'm also fairly conservative; I put a lot of stock in tradition, and traditional American values. However, I always crave intellectual stimulation. I love being around people with differing opinions than I that are willing to have debates and intellectual conversations; it always helps to gain new perspectives.
3. When you aren't doing memes like this one what are you doing?
Study, video games, writing, work, or working out. (The last one I've sort of fallen off the trail, but I'm getting back to it!)
4. List your classes in school from the ones you like the most to the ones you like the least (or if you are out of school, think of the classes you did like and didn't like at the time).
I'm in College, now. By far my favorites are History and English; I couldn't possibly choose between the two. After that, art, science, music, and, least favorite, math.
5. What is your biggest goal for this year?
Get progress done on my novel. Maybe start talking to publishers.
6. Where do you want to be in 5 years?
Pursuing my Master's in History, and pursuing an overall lifelong goal of becoming an Archeologist.
Also, hopefully, not single.
7. What stage of life are you in right now?
Probably still technically in adolescence.
8. Are you more child-like or childish?
Heh. I'm very nostalgic about the cartoons I grew up with, and Disney World, where I grew up. I'm very idealistic, some might say, naive.
9. What is the last thing you said out loud?
"That didn't happen last time..." when a huge, trumpeting fanfare burst forth from my computer while I was trying to download an update for a Fantasy RPG.
10. What song comes closest to how you feel about your life right now?
"Love Is the Protest" by Jars of Clay. Or "Dream On" by Aerosmith.
11. Have you ever taken martial arts classes?
I have! Tae-kwon-doe for three, four years. I actually did make it to black belt, but that was ages ago- I'm -really- rusty.
12. Does your life tend to get better or worse or does it just stay the same?
Since early May, things have gotten markedly worse, and a hundred little problems still chittering around me drive me crazy. But, I'm an optimistic sir, and I think things might be taking a turn for the better.
13. Does time really heal all wounds?
Yes, but some wounds will still scar.
14. How do you handle a rainy day?
I'm a Floridian, so I deal with them a lot. I actually love the rain- when I'm indoors, because it gives me an excuse to literally dive under my blankets and snuggle up with a book.
15. Which is worse...losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights?
Losing your luggage. What kind of question is that?
16. How is (or was) your relationship with your parents?
First off, I love my parents very much. But I'm really tired of living with them. Mom has been suffering much longer than I have this year, and I can respect that- I can respect a lot of things about my mother. My Dad has, and is, making some decisions in life I'm very much disappointed over, and, there is a bit of a divide because I'm no longer conservative enough for his tastes.
17. Do you tend to be aware of what is going on around you?
Heh, it's a problem I'm working on.
18. What is the truest thing that you know?
Love never fails- 1 Corinthians 13:8
19. What did you want to be when you grew up?
Oooh. I was a weird kid. I wanted to be a Cruise Ship Captain, because my parents had taken me on the Disney-owned "Wonder" Cruise ship, and it was the most awesome thing my 7-year old self had ever experienced. After that, I did, and still do, have flirtations about running for office one day. Right now, I want to become an Archeologist and novelist; the former would be my official position, the latter something I can do in my free time.
20. Have you ever been given a second chance?
Yes! One friend of mine whom I'm very close to gave me a second chance after two years of not talking to each other. It's still one of the coolest things anyone's ever done for me.
21. Are you more of a giver or a taker?
A lot of people say I'm too much of a giver. But I don't think so, what I give is usually stuff I don't need, so I'd just be a jackass if I didn't share.
22. Do you make your decisions with an open heart/mind?
As much as I pride myself for being an intellectual, I tend to let the heart rule. I'm very much a romantic, and can easily be swayed by sentiment.
23. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?
Oosh. I COULD say that it was some wound I received at a construction site for rebuilding an Orphanage, but the most painful has been a stubborn ingrown toe nail that has been with me since March. Not because the pain is intense, but the pain just WON'T GO AWAY.
24. What is the most emotionally painful thing that has ever happened to you?
This summer, probably. Stretching from May to August, I lost friends who turned out weren't really friends, lost loved ones to a plethora of tragedies, and spent most of my time very, very much alone.
25. Who have you hugged today?
No one. But now I want to. >.>
