ACen never again!

Wow... just... wow.
Friday: Left from here around noonish. Got into registration-at-con-line at about 3:30pm. Left line at 11pm. No that is not a typo. Almost missed my favorite part of the con, Anime Hell, but luckily they were running horribly late.
Saturday: Midnight madness was okay, for the most part. Hung around with some people near the lobby for a few hours afterwards, then ended up getting in on some serious Apples to Apples. Entered the Magic 128-seat Booster Draft at 10am, left it at 2pm after losing in the second round. Still got some neat cards, and free entry makes it that much sweeter. Hung out with my friend and went up to his room. Walked to McDonald's as is my ACen tradition, ate, came back, took shower, took an accidental nap in said friend's room during a movie (that I kinda wanted to see =( ) Went to Masquerade. Played more Apples to Apples and a little SF 3rd strike. Sunday stikes.
Sunday: More Apples to Apples until getting bored because a couple people at the table were basically ramming answers through rather than just lobbying for favorites, and most people had taken to picking the green cards to use instead of just flipping the next one on the pile. Went and hung out with the Spoony Bards until 9:30am. Went to dealer's room, bought some shit, hung out in Dealer's Room until maybe 1pm. Went out to car, fell asleep. Woke up near a White Castle somewhere, got out, ate, got back in car, went back to sleep. Got woke up near a gas station somewhere to contribute gas money. Went back to sleep. Woke up 10 minutes from home. Got home, went back to sleep.
The con was good, for the most part, but jesus... 7.5 hours in a registration line to pay 50 bucks and get a little paper badge (I didn't even get a little label printed out for it, they just hand-wrote my information on there.) I'm not going to the con year after year to throw my money at the steaming crater that ACen has become. No Consuite anymore, long lines (for EVERYTHING, not just reg), overbearing security... ACen outgrew it's venue a couple years ago, they just don't seem to realize it.
So I guess I'll just go to MFF and Anime Iowa instead.

Sorry you had a crappy con. ;;
But ACen does need to work on organization. Something always happens with their registration, so I never trust it. x_x
This year I hadn't heard of any problems. I got mine about a month in advance.
