I am surprisingly OK with this

Sony Pictures has picked up the rights to make a movie based on MANIMAL, the very short-lived 80's tv show about a guy who can turn into all kinds of different animals and (of course) uses his ability to fight crimes. He's sort of the Batman of TF enthusiasts, you could say.
It will come as a surprise to absolutely no one who knows me that I loooooooved this show when I was a kid (I was 9 when it came out). It was probably a major player in my liking werewolves and transformation sequences (and guys with sexy accents) so damn much, and thank the powers that be the internet didn't exist back then, because the first fanfic I ever wrote was for that show. And it was in a Choose Your Own Adventures format, which I guess goes to show that particularly amateur stylistic mishap was old before ff.net even came into being.
Tvtropes describes it as "aggressively silly" and I suppose it was, but kids don't have good taste, and I have a very high nostalgia-forgiveness threshold, so I have to say I am actually kind of thrilled about this. I'm only sorry I didn't get to write script.
Oh well . . . there's still Thundarr the Barbarian. Better get crackin' on that, I reckon.

Btw, since you're so into transformation, did you ever get into the Animorph books?
I read a few of the Animorphs books, but I was already in my 20's when they started coming out, so they were a bit below my reading level XD I never really became a fan, but they seemed like a good read for the younger set.
As far as I remember, they had only two actual TF scenes that they kept reusing: the panther and the hawk. Let's hope they'll be more imaginative this time....
And yeah, I haven't seen those transformation scenes since the 80s, which is probably just as well because I'm sure they're terrible. But hopefully something good can come of it.
Incidentally, I wonder whatever happened to the plan to make a movie around Ender's Game. I was really looking forward to that but it seems to have fizzled. Which again may be just as well, since I don't know how anyone could possibly capture all the nuances of the book.
