In celebration of Hobbit Day (Sept 22nd) we're offering up homage to one of fantasy's greatest legacy in banner form. Talrion created this amazing banner, and by golly, we had to use it. HAD! Just look at it. Rednef, the All Seeing Eye? How could we not? And while we could leave it up for a mere day, we think we'll make a week of it.
Amazing. Simply amazing!

One of fantasy's greatest legacy what?
And while we could leave it up for a mere day, we think we'll make a week of it.
Sort of like Jackson decided to stretch out a story that barely fills out one film to a trilogy.
*ba-dum-tsh*
You know, because of the adaptation that's the reason for this journal?
Sort of like Jackson decided to stretch out a story that barely fills out one film to a trilogy.
The journal is kindof ambiguous, but the banner is most certainly a reference to lord of the rings because it's set in Mordor, which was never a scene in the Hobbit. It's clearly a scene from The Return of the King where Frodo (represented by Fender) is entering Mordor and sees the black tower.
Ergo, my comment. Peter Jackson did *not* "stretch out a story" into a trilogy. If you think the Lord of the Rings trilogy movies are the Hobbit, you should read the books, or at the very least watch/rewatch the movies, because they are very different.
In TH and LotR both Bilbo and Frodo were said to be born on September 22, which is why the American Tolkien Society celebrates this day. FA, on the other hand, remembered all this only because of the upcoming first part of Jackson's TH adaptation, which he stretched into a trilogy. Because money. The banner may reference an element found specifically in LotR, but it's still a part of the larger Middle Earth saga and was most likely only chosen because Fender dressed up as a hobbit would've looked lamer.
Grok?
The Hobbit - 1937
The Fellowship of The Rings -1954
The Two Towers - 1954
The Return of The King -1955
tlotr was too big for the three books as a general standard in the 50's, so the publisher recommended the separation. It was a logical separation because he was planning to have them segmented within the same book anyway. This way it was just easier to read, I mean who REALLY wants to read a book that's 3 - 4 inches thick??
The point is Peter Jackson isn't the one who stretched the Lord of the Rings into 3 books, Tolkein did before publishing.
It will be hours long if not, so many plot lines must be cut.
I am a little happy he split it up in 3.
If you want to know all about it i suggest watching the video blogs he has posted.
meh, not too bothered about finding out.
Also-- Yeah! Best day ever. Tricksy Hobbitses!
Now then, I heard they're taking the hobbits to Isengard :3
I seem to be having a fair amount of glitches, and I only joined a short time ago
Still really awesome though
LOVE THIS
A LOTR week!
Far more awesome than Shark Week.
Less drama generating than Fat Bunny Week.

Now then I need to say....
MY PRECIOUSssssss
Kudos!
Couldn't resist.
At least STAR WARS has Chewbaccas (i.e. people in fursuits).
To dungeons deep and cavern old
The pines were roaring on height
The winds were moaning in the night
The fire was red it flaming spread
The trees like torches blazed with light
But oh well!
