The heads are all foam, built over a sweat wicking balaclava. I have a friend next to me, so he'll answer for the visibility/ventilation question:

"The head wasn't my size, since my head is very large, but the muzzle is very open giving the wearer very nice ventilation. The vision is also a lot better than my suit which has tiny eye holes."

My muzzles are carved out completely, so there's nothing blocking the nose from air. The pupils are made with screen, triple layered and it's like looking through a window screen.
