Sadly, I see this a lot. I find myself thinking a lot of similar thoughts but I keep them in my head. Life would be at least 1000% better if everyone kept their thoughts in their head.

But yes I really understand this because Ive seen it and heard it and once intervened with a friend of mine by pretending to be her family or partner because they dont seem to do it when your with another dude but alone yeah. And I also find the remarks about pussy being gross awful. I counter with how ass is gross if they keep saying crude things. Y'know, ever since we got into that argument, I've become more perceptive and sensitive to how men behave. There are a lot of white men. I am lucky.

Men are asses. Well, that doesn't excuse my more cynical approach that people in general are asses, but men more-so. This further justifies my point of their indecency to think outside of themselves and pick up the ques.

Now, if I saw a lady I was attracted to in the metro reading a book, I'd probably shut my yap and give a glance or two. If I were to say anything, I would apologize for interrupting and make sure whatever I did say was worth her time. If anything, I'm pretty high-strung in the metro and would spend my time making sure I don't get violated (theft, mugged, beaten up, anything like that). I'm looking around making sure that my surroundings are safe and I put on a barrier to protect myself. Young women are at an immediate disadvantage most of the time. Culturally around the world it has become more and more apparent to me that most folks are non-egalitarian, specifically males upon female.

She was wise, she played it cool, but damn.

It's strange though. In the school environment, most of my peers are progressive. We're all equals to some degree. We're lucky we transcend gender and sexual preference for the most part. That's a really safe place to be in.

Side-note: I fucking hate it when predominantly homosexual males openly show their disgust for female genitalia. Bodies are beautiful. There's a lot more of that where we come from. Physical discrimination and polarization is pretty bullshit, and it chaps my ass when someone lectures me girls are gross.

I equate this to how people act here on this site when they drool at everything they see and have to make a sexual comment of some nature because they think it's charming since it's constantly enabled here, but the difference between here online, and the issue in real life is just that:

It happens in real life. I have an understanding of how much worse that must be considering most of us lack self control, and act on impulse. whether or not it's to overcompensate to make ourselves seem like more of a masculine dude or whatever, It's something that's embraced, and it really is an awful habit to get into, Especially considering how it effects women, and maybe even scare them when a man is too aggressive.

It's disrespectful and rude, yeah, And it's a shame most people can't have some common decency and put themselves into others' shoes and see they must look to others when they act that way.

Sadly, I think a lot of inner-city commuters have this happen to them. I have never seen it in Chicago, but I have seen it in California and New York. Public transportation in major cities is very strange and often confrontational. I have made it a point to come to the aid of women when I was younger. Seems that my demeanor looked "badass." I can still pull it off even now. I'm sorry that it has happened to you. Men can be total idiots.

That bit about gay men who are all 'women and vaginas are terrible' always annoy me. Yeah, like ythey'd like anyone saying that about gay guys like them.

Pretty much what you said; as a gay male it IS kinda off my radar and I honestly had no idea there were so many fucktards out there. So stories like the one you linked are really needed to keep everyone educated and we could all stand to be a bit more vigilant. I know I'm going to keep a better eye out for shit like this at cons.

While she has every right to act the way she does, I feel bad now that most men use a forced conversation trick instead of general inquiry on a book title. I've poilitly came up to people before of both genders in public areas and said "Thats a really interesting cover, can you tell me what the book is about?" And seeing people use the books she reads as a starting point to a forced conversation really annoys me.

Rereading my comment I feel I'm wording this wrong. Shes in the right here, the guys she described are crazy. My complaint is about the abuse of books by the men and not wanting to learn good literature.

It's things like this that really make me question if being a boy is a good thing.

The way that man gradually reacted made no sense whatsoever... I don't get why some guys act this way. It's dumb, violent men like that that give males such an antagonistic view in female eyes. Some guys need to learn basic manners and decorum, like the business suit guy.

Also,  Zanerus raises a good point; I like reading, so I may honestly inquire about a book. I am not good at speaking in general, so I usually simply try to look for the title in the least invasive way possible then make a mental note to research the title.
