Birthdays
So, I ignored my grandmothers birthday again this year. Some will boo to me right about now. Let me explain.
A typical Dutch biryhday the family sits in a circle talking about (in my family) about cars, boats (the men) and kids, grandkids and clothes (the women). I dont really care about this stuff and it used to bore me so much. What I like is never a topic. So I used tool sit there, watching the clock.
My birthdays were worse. They would come and shake hands or try to kiss me (no!) and then I was bored again in my own home and I could not leave. With the backup of 1 aunt I finally said to everyone I would not celebrate my birthday again. That also got me off the hook for theirs. Now some will say I am anti social but when I go go someones birthday its because I like them and not because I am socially forced too. I do go to birthdays of my parents, sister and her family. Sometimes I go to a friends aswell.
"But it is your grandmother." Seeing my mother with her grandkids makes me realise how bad I had it. The only grandkid she did not remember the date from. I am lucky if she says the right name. The time she did was when she gave her dog my name. Refrase: she remembered the dogs name. She has yer favorites and shows it. My dad almost kicked her out of the house because she treated my mother badly. But now she is old so I have to go befause it could be her last? She claims she doesnt see who is in the room anyway. Maybe I am a heartless ass, maybe I just live my life my way.

Meh I can understand you I got pretty much of a similar case, I don't really like celebrating people who don't really care or any family activities, I don't even like to celebrate my own due people being annoying and it's all boring, well they force me mostly.

OP
If people like doing stuff like that it is fine but we do not and are mature enough to decide not to do it.
