Sheezy started off like FA, but with even more freedom. Then they got sponsors. Then they took down ALL adult artwork regardless of to what extent. Since then it's been like a dA wannabe. x:
I've heard briefly about it from :icon fluff-kevlar: during one of his recent stream sessions, that it was going to be a furry art site like FA, only with better interface, user controls, etc.
However...I've got my reservations about it. I've been a member of FA for four years now, and have since built up a good deal of people I watch and comment on their art/journals...some of which have become good friends. I started commissioning art almost a year ago now and have since got quite a number of commissions. I've now got a membership in Inkbunny and have been a member for a year and a half. I've also re-watched what artists on my FA list had made accounts there as well.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is...I feel like I would only be spreading myself wider and thinner by making accounts to other, newer furry art sites that I don't really utilize, save for a few artists that, say, decided to cancel their accounts in FA and move it all to IB or DA or Weasyl or...elsewhere. I mean, heck, I've had an account at DA longer than at FA, but I only ever log on there very rarely now...which makes me wonder why I have account there in the first place, only watching 2-3 artists there, no less. ;^^ I feel like having FA and IB are more than enough for me right now...any more spreading to other sites would be spreading myself thin, if that makes sense. I don't know how other artists are, or would be able to keep up with all it, including uploading and describing their works on FA, Tumblr, Weasyl, Nabyn, etc., but I know for myself that it's far out of range for what I can handle.
I apologize if this sounds like I'm ranting at this point...hope I haven't offended anyone, just my own feelings about Weasyl and other new furry art sites that are opening right now. Granted, I haven't even visited it yet, but I figure I should at least check it out once.
Yeah, I get what your saying. I really don't like spreading all over the place either. But, a lot of artist are giving it a shot, and I believe some may be making permanent moves there.
I can see and understand why some artists would want to do that for their own reasons. Myself though, I'll keep an eye out on Weasyl for now, at the very least...see what develops over time and such.
Weasyl
However since it's in Beta, you can't join unless you receive an invite from a current member.
Everyone else got Weasyl.
Wonder how long before it goes the way of Sheezy Art~
