Other than that, I'm interested! I'll send out an e-mail to you ASAP. :)
These commissions are for after the current batch.
Your first commission would be finished before one from this batch then.
You asked 'what if we're still waiting on x' and I answered that.
Unfortunately I can't give you a specific time table for your first commission. I'm working on them and getting them done, and when yours is done you will receive it.
If ever you meet someone who basically says that theyd like their finished artwork while youre in shock at the death of your parent, and you DON'T go apeshit on them, then you'd be me.
I've handled you the best I can, which isn't good enough for you. Luckily I will not take any further commissions from you. I've never had anyone so determined and heartless.
There will be no joy in the creation, no joy in the idea that I'll be making someone happy. You won't be happy, even if you love the drawing, because this can have no happy endings.
I will still give you the best product I can make and you will still have your artwork finished in the order it was received. There are people behind you, there are people before you. None have acted like you.
It's not about the T&A, it hasn't been for a year and a half. It's about being reliable and keeping your word.
The only person who thinks I am out of line, including other artists I've discussed the proper method of handling this issue with, is you.
I received no information, no response. I would have been happy to just know that the queue had progressed.
Instead, I was ignored. I was ignored again when I tried to be discreet and sent another email reminding Miranda that I exist and would like to know where I stand as she was opening up for more commissions.
Again, no response. This is the sort of behavior one sees when encountering artists that scam people. Quite alarming.
So, I inquire in public, and you can see how well that has turned out. I would gladly accept a refund, given that after over two and a half years, the sketches I'd wanted to get as gifts for friends are now out of date regarding their subject matter. One is deceased, one is no longer a friend, and the other has move on to other roleplays.
Were this a cash commission, I'd be asking paypal to resolve it. As it was an item purchased on Amazon in lieu of payment, I do not have that recourse. I'll still accept the cash value of the item at that time, and never be heard from again.
Heartless? No. An asshole? Perhaps. But that'd be something she, you, and I all have in common, so I wouldn't go pointing fingers.
I do not wish to be an asshole as it is counterproductive to a good business relationship, but I am given little other option in this matter in order to get even basic information on status and progress that other artists provide as a matter of course.
And yes, commissions are a business and should be treated as such.
However, I do appreciate your support.
I do shudder to think just how long the people ahead of me have been waiting.
During my 2, 4 year cases, They kept contact with me throughout. Which is what made it understandable and both of these people fully upgraded my images to the best quality they could do. (Full digital, and full traditional) I've always believed communication is important. I have to agree though waiting more than 1-2 years. . .Should rarely happen.
I admit, I've spent a little bit on icons here or there. The person who did my current icon cranked it out in under a week after paying. I know it's not a huge colored piece of artwork but she got it done fast and was awesome to work with. I asked someone else for a simple headshot, and after 7 months of not doing it (but constantly taking and completing more commissions) she finally just refunded my money. I would've only been out 8 bucks, but still. It made me feel like she figured out "hey, I think my art is worth more than this now... so I don't want to do this anymore for only 8 dollars"
I'm sorry you had to wait, but I'm glad at least the artist kept in touch with you and even went above and beyond to upgrade your commission slot.
Unfortunately furries aren't going to really read and just presume it's gonna be done fast, all because they want something from a well known artist.
Also yeah those two things right there made it worth it. They kept communication. They upgraded the commissions in apology.
A long time ago I purchased a handful of commissions and someone fooled around with delivering. I only waited 7 months. They were so sick of me asking about it politely every other month that they scrawled through it and the end result was an absolute piece of shit picture. the lines were awful, the colors sloppy, the markings incorrect. What a fucking slap to the face.
But, I don't want to borrow trouble here. Hopefully everything here ends up well for you. I'd recommend making a listing in that Artist Beware Live Journal account (or whatever it's hosted on these days) and have a screenshot of this journal to submit as well. You've been really wronged here both in waiting this long AND for how people had treated you here. People use Artist Beware as a sort of "reference checker" so it'd be good for people to see this.
It seems that did not occur.
That said, people need to be told about this stuff. Making a customer wait over a year for a commission that takes 6-12 hours, if even that, is insanely unprofessional if they aren't told explicitly in advance.
I'm going to skip the fluff and be *that* asshole: It's instant gratification because they get the money right away, dump the slot into a queue, yell at customers when their work isn't done, and keep selling commissions. It's sleazy and not exactly well thought-out, but I wouldn't argue that a lot of artists are the brightest tools in the kitchen drawer.
side note: I'd never, ever wait more than two months for a commission. Ever. There are a million artists out there who won't try to fuck you over like this and are awesome to work with as a customer.

I guarantee you this person you'll white-knighting so savagely for has -not- had a non-stop 24-hour crisis-fest in their life, one right after another, without a single moment's pause for the past 2 years (and if they have, taking commissions is NOT the proper line of work for them--it requires the ability to commit and not leave people hanging for obscene amounts of time). People only end up waiting that long for art they've PAID for, for one of 2 reasons (and sometimes even a mix of both):
1) The artist is MAJORLY procrastinating, for any number of reasons.
2) The artist continues to take on new commissions before finishing those that have been paid for but are still incomplete, thus further elongating the que.
Let me make something abundantly clear ... TRUE. PROFESSIONALS. DON'T. DO. THIS. It's called "proper time management for working on art owed". It's called "taking on a reasonable number of commissions that can realistically be completed within a decent amount of time". 3-4 months for a piece to get to its customer isn't unreasonable. Hell, under very bad circumstances, UP to one year is also permissible. But TWO years? With the person literally having to PRY status updates out from the artist? That's some grade-A bullshit, and there's not a SINGLE thing you can say that even REMOTELY justifies it. The fact that she states "no refunds" is just the final little turdlet, atop the massive steaming pile of bullshit.
A -lot- can change in two years. As the person states--one of the people in the picture he's waiting for isn't even ALIVE anymore. Another he's no longer friends with, and the others just lost interest in the subject matter. Now he's out an image that's practically worthless. How is THAT fair? How is that even REMOTELY professional?
Y'know why she doesn't offer refunds? Hrm? Y'know why she's always taking on more and more commissions, despite never finishing the list she's already got stacked up? Because she spends EVERY single dime she acquires the very MOMENT she gets it. And, what a surprise, she goes broke again, needs more spending cash, so what does she do? Open for even MORE commissions, of course! Can't refund what she doesn't have!
If that isn't irresponsible, I dunno what is. This has "scam" written all over it. Anyone who commissions or supports this person's method of doing business is a sucker or a bootlick. Or both.
Get your delusional head out of your ass.
Make a list of what commissions you have to do before you get to his, and show it to him.

I'd love nothing more than to drop dox on you, so he can call your boss at work and your mate's boss at work until you do his pic.
If I see I will not get the work done in time for the client, I WILL refund them in full. Or at least give a time frame of when their work will be finished. 2+ years, even 1 year or a few months of waiting for an UPDATE, is preposterous. I can understand real life comes first and will not allow for immediate responses.
From what I gather the client has shown a lot of patience far more than I think I would ever want to handle from an artist.

Well if you'd finish his damn comission HE WOULDN'T HAVE TO MAKE SNIDE REMARKS!! God people like you make me so angry.
aaaand
Let's be honest, they even type the exact same, and it's not hard to see hat AgentKira started up right after Mirandaleigh stopped responding(and by responding I mean treating her customer like trash). The fact she had to say her true words in a sockpuppet just shames her even further.
If by some chance AgentKira is not her sockpuppet, then it just means someone she knows heard her bitch and moan about someone asking for his overdue commission and proceeded to "defend" her, but only helped dig her deeper into her already slaughtered reputation as an artist.
That said this journal is being posted all over so very easily they could hop in from elsewhere.
This guy is a known troll.
No doubt, this journal needed to surface REALLY BADLY.
My one query is this: why did his trolling stop when everybody else rushed in? There are a lot of angry people here, and that's like a feast for this guy. What happened?
Rule #1:: Don't piss off your customers
Rule #2:: DON'T PISS OFF YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!
Rule #3:: If you pissed off your customers, see rule #1 and #2
Rule #4:: Communicate with your customers, especially if it's taking you TWO YEARS to finish a damn commission.
Rule #5:: Don't assume your customer is understanding and not communicate with him/her when you are tardy with the commission.
Rule #6:: If you feel you can't complete the damn Commission in a proper time, communicate with your customer and offer them a refund.
Rule #7:: STOP TAKING FUCKING COMMISSIONS WHEN YOU STILL HAVE COMMISSIONS TO COMPLETE.
It's not how life works, but when you're doing business for a customer it sure as hell is.
>If ever you meet someone who basically says that theyd like their finished artwork while youre in shock at the death of your parent, and you DON'T go apeshit on them, then you'd be me.
Keep work and life separate if you can't handle IRL stress verses customer demand.
>Luckily I will not take any further commissions from you.
Not that they'd ever be produced in a timely manner regardless.
>Also, I'd like nothing more than to take your commission and drop it to the very bottom of my list just to spite you - but that's not what I do or who I am,
This may as well be equivalent to saying I'm so great and powerful and I have the option to hurt you greatly, but I won't do it... But I'm going to rub it in your face that I can anyways. There was no reason for you to need to state this.
Oh mirandaleigh, you hilarious.
Which means that your TOS is meaningless.
I am also thoroughly ashamed of the people who continue to commission you with your disgusting behavior and never ending back log of commissions owed. It's a shame, your art is good but your attitude is shit and in a fandom where most artist's business comes from word-of-mouth, the worst thing you can do is build a poor reputation for yourself.
Man/woman up and give refunds to those tired of waiting.
After this..I..I just dunno if she could focus on the art without getting mad or rushing through it.
see: i already spent your dosh and you are going to see neither your money nor your product
jesus christ how did anyone even consider commissioning such an immature, irresponsible artist
Your attitude, unprofessionalism and childishness ("oh you moaned that I take years to work so I won't put effort into yours") means iv blacklisted you, told my friends not to ever commission you and fully support the artist beware post about you!
I'd say a group like that is not worth getting the account(s) of the people who create it suspended. Which very realistically could happen. If people really want to do it, I'd say do it off-site. Maybe create a blog or something.
Stop praying on the minds of gullible people of this fandom. I use the word gullible because alot of people in this community are too nice to make a stand against this sort of behaviour. It makes me sick to the back teeth seeing people like you doing shit like this. Don't care how popular you are, it doesn't give you ANY right whatsoever to make people wait 2 years for a comission.
I am sorry for any loss you may have had during this period, but you cannot cite it as an excuse for lack of productivity, and horrid work ethic, and just plain dysfunctional "ToS", which in actuality will not hold up in court, were anyone to take you to one over this. I strongly advise you to take initiative, and sort personal life out of your business, and either cut off work, and issue refunds.... Or stop complaining and bitching at the people who pay for a part of your way of life, and do some quality work for them.
