thanks again! Just received the contract and signed it. This anthology pays contributors royalties based on sales. Unusual.

Seems to be getting more and more common, at least among small presses doing anthologies as ebooks or print on demand. I'm still a little leery of it personally; there are just so many variables involved.

Seems like a lot of admin to keep up with for such a long span of time, but if a publisher is willing to go that far I'll ride along.

It has the potential to earn more than the usual lump sum short stories tend to net authors if the collection sells well. But if it sells poorly it also has the potential to pay zip. I'm nervous about that, too, but I think it'll also inspire the contributors to promote it more.
