In my opinion, the problem extends far beyond fursuits. Most people in the fandom, I assume, are used to only a small array of art-styles. Whether it's a fursuit or an image commission it can end up looking typical.

True, you know the suits l keep thinking about are the ones with that snobbish like look on their face.

I know if I created a "fursuit" it would be a partial, and involve things like a mask and bodypaint instead of a full mascot head.

That's one of the main issues, yeah. Also, most of the fandom is either canine (lupine, vulpine, etc.) or feline, so personas and characters tend to meld together after a while.

I've seen some unique suits before, though, so it's just a matter of looking for them. The realistic ones are badass.

Been looking for someone that can make something NOT toonish in style and really shoot for being real without looking like a mess of a job.

I almost never see those type of suits, the cute look seems to be the norm.

The people I've seen that have done them always make a mess out of the head... (These are people who do movie SFX with masks and everything of the odd, yet there not use to using all fur.)

People tend to make wolves, most dogs, foxes, etc look the same, when they all have distinctive facial strutctures that make them all different.

aha, I have a feeling I know which suits you're talking about. I think it's just the fact that those kind of suiters probably only know one way of doing them, They might get so used to it that they end up doing it the same for every suit they make. Ive also noticed that a lot of suiters do so many canines that it's hard for them to make any other species not too "dog like". It seems like a common thing at this point.

can't help it when 90% of the fandom chooses to be some type of canine/vulpine and the ones with money who can commission fursuits are the above lol. The best suit makers expand from how they used to do suits from experience. I like seeing the progress from old suit makers as they get more experience personally

It would cost me, 3,000.00 to be a zebra. it cost me 640 to be a fox plus people dont do them so it might end up garbage for that amount. look if your looking for different, then look for the money that comes with it. Realistic comes with that too, they are too expensive and most dont like them cause they look like dead animals. if 90% (more like max 50%) chooses canines you cant be mad at a popular vote, its what most like. I like zebras and there's just one zebra suiter, (i dont like her :/) but im not mad i just deal with it.

I've sometimes wonder about that too. It's almost as if they are all made by the same person (that's partly why I made my own for the reasons that I wanted it made like I want it and my own design, although I used an online tutorial). In the end, it saves money just to make it on one's own. My suit didn't turn out perfectly the way I wanted it, but it made me feel accomplished and somewhat original because it's....me.

Another thing I've noticed is most of the furry population consists of wolves and foxes. So mainstream...jk lol. I haven't seen a lot of squirrel fursuits so idk.
