Not sure I follow..

Okah you know when people draw stuff in "Tim Burton stlye" it's usually something that looks really stick-like and heavily based on Jack from Nightmare before Christmas?

Yeah.

I accidentally got into a discussion of Tim Burton's style the other day and noticed that Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands are both kinda not really in his later styles, at least when compared to his other animation movies.

I'm going to put Scissorhands aside though and concentrate on his animations; those usually are two sided, like Coraline or James in the Giant Peach, with one world being droll and dreary and grey, and the new world the character finds being super colorful.

Character designs are a little caricaturized, just enough to make them unique to the character, but not so much that it's blowing their personality out of proportion.


But with his live action movies after 2000, this style shows up, like in Alice In Wonderland, Charlie And the Chocolate Factory, and Big Fish.

Reading though his wikipedia page, he's done way more stuff than I had known of. :V

I do like Burton's stuff, but I never had a reason to look into his works, good observations People can change overtime and want to try different things, that's evident in almost every artist. Are you trying to find out what different things he's done over the years?

Very true, though he's been mostly on the half cute, half dark kinda way for a while, I think.

I looked him up on Wikipedia, and he's done waaaay more than I even knew, like he directed a couple of Batman movies.
I might try and see how many of those are on NEtflix, and watch the rest on youtube, just to see if the themes he uses are still in all of the movies

He did Mars Attacks as well, back in the 90s.

He's done a ton of movies.

And yeah, I think people only see the Nightmare Before Christmas as Tim Burton style, since they're super familiar with it. :v

He's had movies out like, every couple of years since Edward Scissorhands. Both live action, animation, and recently, computer generated.

The article said he was even teaming up with Valve, they folks that came up with Left 4 Dead, to make his newest computer generated movie, I would assume, Deep.

That's true as well. But what popped into my head was like, a Half Life 2 minimalism picture, which might just be a crowbar.

Which means like, not much to those whom haven't played HL series. :v

Why not add more?

I mean just in general. Minimalism pictures are actually quite nice I think, since it's like, inclusive to a certain group, yet still able to be displayed in public. Like furry art. It's there for everyone to see, but to certain people means something different or deeper. :V

To each their own. When I draw, I try to include as many details as possible.

I agree with details making the picture, though I think there's a place for all dorms of art. :v

It's more the shape though, the last one I tried wouldn't reach all the way into the lock and I ended up filing off most of the original shape I had

Yeah, I'd have to sit down and think up a mechanism. I'd want to make something with a garden sprayer grip that when inserted into a lock and squeezed pushes all the tumblers up, allowing you to open it as quickly as a normal key.. if possible. I need to disect a few different locks and compare the inner workings to see if a universal tool would work.
