Alright, now that summer wrap up has settled down, I finally have time to do a decent update.
So, life at the clinic is slowing down greatly now that summer's over. I've earned my little spot of main night tech. We are slowly moving towards having people work one main shift. Hopefully, once we get the newbies trained up, things will go well. My morale hasn't been great. It's the season where your bad cases start outweighing the good. I've had my share of nasties this week. Based on the cats following me around, I guess I've fallen into a bit of depression. Maybe things will start looking up soon...
With the staffing shortages fixed, I managed to start going back to this thing called socializing. It's been...awkward at best. With my older closer friends, it was refreshing. With my not so close friends, being busy kinda made things suck. With new furries, well, the only word to describe it was apprehensive. Main motivation for going was the fact I was craving wings at the time and mind as well. Worst case scenario, I could eat while people glared at me, nothing new there. Fortunately, I didn't know anyone there other than the organizer and his girlfriend. even more fortunate was the fact his girlfriend and I could actually talk about something relative. And yes people, it is work, seeing how I really don't have a life other than my job. However, I greatly enjoyed Wing Night and look forward to the next one.
Since the concept of my job (or a job in general) seems to be baffling to some people (especially furries), I will make a half ass attempt to explain it. I work in a 24hr facility. Facilities like this tends to work on a rotation system. It means that we get longer shifts, more days off and very irregular days off. In other words, I don't get a lot of weekends off. Also, the weekends I get off are very random. Further more, I didn't start getting weekends off at all until March/May. That means most events are out. "But, wait, why don't you just come after work?" I work the evening/night shift. "Just come for the first part then" You honestly think I'm actually going to drag myself awake a few hours early? Bitch, please, there are times when I work 15 hours in a day. This brings me to my next point. My days off are usually spent trying to catch up, usually on sleep. While the job isn't physically exhausting, it's emotionally exhausting. We see a lot of nasties in emergency, we get a lot of nasty, we deal with a lot of nasty. Some days, you walk away feeling like the best in the world. Other days, you want to die. when you have a bad rotation, whether it was really hectic or your favourite patient died, it wears on you. So why do this job? Because it's those successes that make the job worthwhile. "So why even have a job? Like, you have a boyfriend..." Because neither of us want to support/be a deadbeat. Besides, I like to make money and spend just the way I want. Besides, housework all day, everyday...seriously? That would only take up a quarter of a day.
The next vacation is planned for me. Furry Weekend Atlanta just needs to actually be planned and things will be golden. I can't wait. It's gonna be fun.
