It's a little bit better designed version of FA mixed with Sofurry.

I'm on it as an experiment since DA has too little of furries, FA seems to be meh to me (gets the job done), and Sofurry seems to "out there" for me to use without getting lost.

May I have a question? Is the search engine on Weasyl efficient? I'm very happy with the one we have on FA, the ones on sofurry and inkbunny are very dependant on tags - often using google with "site:sofurry.com <words here>" would give me more results than the search only.

Everything is in beta, so everything is a bit glitchly right now.

Apparently it started in 2011 and is supposed to be a "more free" artist community for furrys (So I suppose it is like the old FA and cub porn will be allowed). And only people who donated in the time peroid from 2011 to 2012 are allowed to join the beta version and can invite others...

But that still does not answer the question what makes is so special that people create journals about it going "Weheee I has a slot!" like it's an importand goal in live O.o

The rules say no minors. Do they allow ferals and anthrobestiality?

Don't get me wrong please, I like inkbunny,I just wanted to draw a comparison. Inkbunny has great features and unlike FA does not decline artistic freedom for money. :P

People are making Journals about having a Weasyl so people know that they have one, and if their friends have one; to add them on there.
Plus if they announce it with and link it, then no one can Impersonate the person.

I know what it is at it's core, but google isn't telling me why people are excited for it. I don't know if it has special features, bans cub porn, or something else.

Basically like you should know, its an art forum.
The Hype is its better then FA, has better Admins and has Folders; something people wish FA had so they could keep things organized.

They set out, specifically, to fix the problems with FA and Inkbunny. It's quietly been in development for a couple of years I think. Their AUP is still pretty vague on the whole beasty scene. I've uploaded some and nobody has bitched yet..

Kind of crappy that everyone can't join. I'm not poopilfur to get invited, hopefully in the future, it'll be open for everyone. Bah.

It's a chance to be the furry site we all want. It's a chance for a new universally adopted furry website with fewer problems. We shouldn't join if it's popular, but to join to make it popular for a new chance to have an awesome website!
It has an awesome folder system and much better admin. The problems we have here will not be a problem.
I love the chance to adopt new better universal standards. I use as many standards as I can so when/if a better one is adopted, I'll already be using it. It's also another website people can view your stuff. The more websites your stuff is on, the more attention you will get for it.
I beg of you to give this website a chance. We're making a strong unified push now. This may be the one chance furries can move to a better place we can all share.

Basically what he said ^^^ It's mainly the folders that attract people. However there is also some sort of advertising across the home page option for both livestreams and commissions.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it's invite-only at the moment. If they really are smart, they won't keep it that way for too long, or people will lose interest

I get that. I only say if they are smart they wont keep it that way for long simply because that will cause it to die more quickly then not I've noticed in the past

But it doesn't have the big push needed to get everyone over. They need a big push to delude all the cub art that deters people away. I have an inkbunny account as well though.

It's a fetish that people find creepy, but mainly it's because inkbunny is dominated by it. So it feels like the site is full of pedophiles. It's the initial impression the site creates even if people can block it.

It's a new furry art website, if the admins keep up ( unlike Nabyn) it should end up a pretty popular site.
