FurFright, FireFright, and Furricane 2012

TL/DR, FurFright X was great, had an awesome time and will be back next year.
Well, overall besides some minor events, FurFright X was a blast and a great time. Nothing better than being there to celebrate a conventions ten year anniversary. Awesome times with new and old friends and just wonderful to be surrounded by great people (FurFright does indeed have that "family" feeling to it). I'd just like to give a shout out to my roomies for the convention

Meekrat45 and RainCheetah and his Boyfriend (whose name I can't recall sadly D: ). Thanks guys for putting up with me for the weekend. Also want to thank the staff and the hotel for working so hard and giving everyone an awesome convention.
Arrived Thursday and spent the day getting settled in and meeting up with the others in the room. Also got some last minute things and got my badge to sleep in Friday. Spent Friday doing the con stuff; attended opening ceremonies, wandered the dealers den for a bit before getting a bite to eat and attending the Car Show (many awesome rides). After that spent the day hanging out with some friends before going to the Blackjack tournament (did get to the final table in that tournament but didn't make it far after that). Friday night was a little rough but managed to keep cool and not make too much of an ass of myself.
Saturday went well, caught the Fursuit Parade (many awesome suits in it this year) and managed to catch a couple panels as well (including
Nexus_Folf's panel, which while random, was also fun and very informative). Also entered the Poker Tournament, but that didn't go so well, but was fine with that as I was then able to catch the Masquerade and then later, the live-show of The Rocky Horror Picture show. Went to bed around 1 am expecting to get a good nights rest that was interrupted at 4 am by…
FireFright 2012 occurred around 4 am Saturday-night/Sunday-morning. Some idiot messed with a fire extinguisher which then resulted in the Fire Alarms being set off and the hotel needing to evacuated (me somewhat later as I was hoping the alarm would just go away as my bed was very, very warm & comfortable). Luckily there were no serious injuries I heard of. Everyone was grumpy at the rude awakening they had but we all pulled together and made the most of the situation and being cool while waiting to be let back into the hotel. Luckily the hotel took the event in good stride and was concerned about it ruining our event then the disturbance the event caused for their staff and other guests (so big shout out to them for not kicking us out after that).
Sunday was more laid back for me (mostly cause I was keeping an eye on the hurricane headed up the east coast). Attended that fursuit games and then spent the afternoon wandering around and saying goodbye to friends who had to be leaving. Despite my better judgment, I decided to stay rather than bail on my remaining roommates (two had to leave as they wanted to start back on their journey south). I would have preferred to leave that night, but stayed for the closing festivities as things didn't look like they were going to be too bad until the later on during the day Monday). Went to the charity auction and though making some bids, didn't make any winning bids (someone always at the last minute would out bid me, but it's cool as the money was going to help the War Dogs). Closing ceremonies was bitter sweet as it was the last "official" convention event, though the dead dog party kind of counts though. Was a blast to hear about all the great things that went on, Belic's tribute to all the attendees over the last ten years. Was also wonderful to hear that we managed to all come together and raise more money on the tenth anniversary then we did the previous year (keeping true to the beating the total from the last year for ten years now). Was also somewhat fun and scary to see the Bear and others on staff get their backs waxed from making the fundraising goal. Other than that it was just chilling at the party and then sleeping for the night.
Today (Monday) was a bit hectic. Waking up and not having one roommates stuff in the room is never a fun thing. Luckily he had just crashed at another room for the night. After seeing my roommates off, I got myself loaded and quickly left so as to get ahead of the hurricane. The drive for the most part was pretty uneventful, besides a couple times with some occasionally strong wind gusts (like the one that pushed my car from 75-70... or the one that nearly made my car go into another lane). I got home safely and am not just sitting and relaxing till I have to return the boring world of life with work tomorrow.
As for Con-Swag, got a couple new badges, some stuff from FurPlanet, and little odds and ends (like buttons, a key chain, and a FurFright Cup).
