New Job Incoming!
Time to share the news here I guess.
I recently was offered a position at a locally owned, small bank working as an IT Specialist. :D
I will be one of two IT people for the entire company, so it's a pretty big job.
Most importantly, this means I can quit school, it's a full time job with full benefits and good pay ($15/hr starting if you're curious, with a salary review in 90 days).
I will start after MFF on November 21.
I'm excited. This is a full start to my career and a huge step forward. :)
I know most of you have already heard of this and given your congrats on twitter, but I wanted to post a journal to push the political crap off my front page. XD

Best part about this is that it's much easier to move into something "bigger" after having something like this on your resume for a while
I don't have any desire to be in charge of my own company or work my way too far up the ladder. Now, eventually being IT manager at this business I could see happening and would welcome, but as for moving too far up, I don't really care. I need only to make enough money to be happy and be stable, and have a job that lets me take the time off I need and provides benefits.
So I'm pretty thrilled at an opportunity like this. Hopefully I enjoy it (I think I will though)
I honestly considered stopping school once I got my associates and just work on my portfolio for half of my "working hours" and working pizza the other half (say something like 30hrs/week on that). The idea of that lifestyle, while being "bum-like" to most, is really appealing because I get to do what I love to do on my own time working on things while also having a modest source of income. I'd make enough doing 30hrs of pizza delivery a week to easily make my modest share of the rent (roomates woo) and have plenty left over for personal spending, saving, food, and various other expenses. That's a comfortable living for me. I know some people who just can't wait to nail that 50k salary later on, but honestly I wouldn't know what to do with such money. I just don't have very high financial needs since every purchase I make tends to be an informed decision on my part, and something I know I'll need, want, or enjoy in a quality manner.
Though making 50k/yr would be nice i that I'd have plenty of cash to travel with, as well as live in areas that are more expensive to live in :v
