I don't see any difference in this case though. I'm just so tired of seeing journals about jumping ship on FA and going over to Weasyl-- it's going to be the same as FA with a new interface! WOAH! Stop the bus.

Same could be said about Facebook, remember when people bitched and whined about Timeline? Now I hardly doubt that anyone can even remember how Facebook looked before it and they still check it daily.

It doesn't hurt to be curious O.o I'd like to see what the fuss is about and see what they have to offer.

I'm curious about it because it seems like they combined the best of DA, FA, and Nabyn. The fact that they allow videos, photos, and art of all ratings is appealing to me, and the streaming notification thing too. I love that I can post anything i want here on FA without worrying about having it qualify as pornography or otherwise being otherwise unallowed- I can't do that anywhere else, but I'm not really that much of a furry and would love to see more variety in that area. Weasyl actually sounds like the place for me if that's the case there. It looks like they actually put thought into the administration and moderation of the site which is fantastic. That is really lacking on some of these smaller sites.

Also, I've been meaning to ask someone who is a member - what is the compose feature? Is that just their way of adding submissions or is it something else? I can't really tell since I'm not a member and it hides it from me :C

I don't know anything Nabyn, but yea, they basically took the best of dA and FA and combined it together. They want to make a site that will work for everyone and will resolve the issues that people of other art sites have been complaining about for years. The only thing that they don't allow is nude photography, but its apparently a legal thing, so hopefully when they grow into a larger site, they will be able to allow it. (Because there are some really amazing nude photographers out there.)

I'm not sure what you mean by the compose feature. If you are talking about the submissions page, I can show you what that looks like

I had someone with an account show it to me last night, it's just a word processor for writers to use- the link is next to the submit button. Thanks for showing me the submit pages though! I haven't seen those yet.

A big part of the problem with Nabyn is that the owner of the site who is the only one -really- with ability to do anything has been mia for the better part of a year now. No one knows wtf is going on with them. As much as people talk mad trash about Dragoneer, at least he is involved in his site and doesn't disappear for large expanses of time without a word.
I never got more than 3 invites and I donated like $20 to them, and you're completely right- idk what decides how many invites you get, but I wanted to invite people who were NOT furries, people who maybe did contemporary or fine art stuff. That Tristan guy who does the realistic stippling angels and demons is one of the only people on the entire site whose art was really NEW and interesting to me. I don't get why all these new communities are just absolutely saturated with them. I guess it's because furries have one of the most cohesive art communities online. idk. I'm disappointed and I'm scared that Weasyl will go the same way just like that furocity site and art spots, and on and on and on. This site will always get traffic because there is porn.

I don't know who Dragoneer is at all, or anything about the owner of Nabyn, but this has happened with other sites too. Even as far back as Sheezyart.

Dragoneer is the guy who runs FA. And yeah, this has happened a lot. No one wants a corporate site like DA, but no one wants a janky junk pile that no one will update either.

You can, which is one of the reasons I think it might actually stick around. Personally I really like the idea of a place I can post WHATEVER I want.... a place that isn't overrun with so much skeezy furry porn. I mean... yeah. I like a lot of adult art, but this site has so much bizarre shit I wish I could filter out.... if I could just filter out animal genitals, obnoxiously oversized 5 foot thick dicks and anything poop or pee related I might feel a little better about browsing FA.
I watched someone trying to delete submissions from their message box on Weasyl earlier tonight and the user had to click on some separate button to turn on the ability to checkmark and delete them.... then when they hit the delete button the submissions wouldn't go away. LOL..... idk. I was thinking I might want a invite, but after seeing that I'm a little bit skeptical.

I guess due to the fact I initially thought this about other sites and stuck to dA for so long and now it's a ghost town for me has me migrating around. I do it because of friends, really. I'd like to see their art and share mine, and yeah it is a huge pain in the ass to post most of your art from years back but I also want my galleries to be fleshed out in the event the new sites do catch on. I don't have a lot of faith but I'm gonna at least try it. I will say it is aggravating to have to add another site to the list of ones that take hours off my life. I like to feel there is a community in art sites for me to stay there, one reason I just don't use Nabyn really, and a feel I'm getting from Weasyl. Maybe because everyone is busy building their galleries too, but it feels like I'm the only one browsing and trying to leave feed back. Eh. I don't really have time for that BS to be honest.
