Ok guys i want to protect my stuff like my tablet and my other devices for it from an EMP.
How do i make an emp shield I looked up on the internet but it says i need to builed a Faraday cage thats grounded.
But if a device is grounded like the grounding plugs wont they survive or if a device is turned off?
I need someone thats good with electronics if u know one please help

If it's just something to keep it in then you could just build like a padded box with the mesh on all sides (it needs to cover every side or it will be pretty useless). Grounding it is a bit tricky though, is the mesh you have coated in anything like plastic or rubber, or even paint?
Ok ill look arround but any metal cage can work yes. But can i wrap them in aluminum or tin and run copper wire over them?
Mind if I ask why you want this anyway?
Is there a web page u know that can help
that or feel free to ask me any questions you have, I can try to explain stuff better than I have if needed :).
Basically once the pulse hits it will get distributed over the cage, and the metal in the cage will convert it to a voltage, cancelling out the magnetic field in the process. If it's grounded than this voltage results in a current that will just go into the ground, if it's not grounded than sometimes it will reduce the field, but if the field is too strong it wont do much.
Ok so a Faraday cage can keep ur computer safe but can aluminum as welll?
But I forgot to ask, is this trashcan a mesh? If it's solid I'm not sure if that will work as well...
But any good conductor (most metals) will work fine, you just need to make sure that it is surrounding whatever you want to protect, and that it is grounded.
But i want it inside the cage can i connect copper wirres to the cage will that help more
I have to go to bed now though :(, tomorrow I'll try to draw a basic picture or two of a basic design for one if you want :).
Also does copper works best for the cage?
I also noticed you have a skype, do you mind if I add you there tomorrow?
