yeah, that could work, but just make sure that there's something thick/soft between that and the tablet (you don't want to scratch anything), and wrap that in the mesh. As long as it completely surrounds your tablet (it doesn't matter if there is stuff in between) it should be protected depending on the size of the EMP. Larger EMP's will go through though since it's not grounded, in order to ground it you would have to have a wire going to the ground (or the third/round hole in a house plug), so not that practical with a tablet...

What if i make a shed to store the tablet like a faraday cage where the whole thing is grounded

If it's just something to keep it in then you could just build like a padded box with the mesh on all sides (it needs to cover every side or it will be pretty useless). Grounding it is a bit tricky though, is the mesh you have coated in anything like plastic or rubber, or even paint?

possibly, but if it isn't bare metal you'll have to strip away a bit of it to expose the metal at certain points, it shouldn't be too hard. Basically wherever you want to connect two or more pieces you'll need some point of bare metal connection (it doesn't need to be too big, but you need something with metal touching metal). For the grounding do you have a 3 pronged plug around that you don't need/use and could destroy? lol it's okay if you don't too...

you can run wire over it, but I don't think it will change much, that mesh stuff is pretty decent anyway. (just make sure if you do put anything on it that it doesn't go inside the cage or else it will harm the effectiveness).

a grounded one for sure, if not grounded than it will depend on the strength of that pulse.

Basically once the pulse hits it will get distributed over the cage, and the metal in the cage will convert it to a voltage, cancelling out the magnetic field in the process. If it's grounded than this voltage results in a current that will just go into the ground, if it's not grounded than sometimes it will reduce the field, but if the field is too strong it wont do much.

But any good conductor (most metals) will work fine, you just need to make sure that it is surrounding whatever you want to protect, and that it is grounded.

no, if anything it would hurt, you basically want nothing metal touching the cage on the inside, that could let current flow into the cage, and you want it to stay out :).
